Fantasy supernatural manipulation to sucker people into a life of privation with the hope of eternal happiness is beyond perverse. Controlling all joy (dancing, singing, drinking, sex) to dominate people and make them look only to you for any fun is truly ugly, yet this is the M.O. of most major religions. Focusing on the selfishness of personal salvation above all else is ridiculous, yet coldly calculating and incredibly effective.

Most major religions are extreme perversions of life; they keep one from enjoying the moment and taking care of one another in the realm of reality. Organized religion is a hideous construct of lies and distortions tailored to fit the fears of people and designed to benefit the few. To say that the reactionaries of today are somehow sinning against the heart of belief is silly; they are, in fact, more in tune with the core of belief than most others: they use it for cold-blooded personal advantage, which is why and how these systems exist.

These guys aren't perverting religion, they're more in sync with its raison d'etre than most others.
