And Osamma is still running around? What can we ever say that we accomplished, and what do we say about the thousands of Iraqi civilians that have been killed?

Call me morbid, but that day is going to be one of my most depressing days since this horrible thing started.

2. Good question. The RW always says "Well, it's still less than 9/11"
They'll find some way to spin it to justify the war..................

4. That's a good question. I'll be a bitter irony when the number of
dead Americans in Iraq equals and then exceeds the number of dead on 9/11. There will be no way of sugar coating it or justifying it or explaining it away; especially since Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11.

Seventy dead soldiers just this April, and for what?

Nothing from our government.

The MSM will made it an issue. It's all about pandering to their audiences. Fox will pander to the rethugs. MSNBC will pander to the left. CNN will just pander.

One news cycle and it will be history.

In the end. Nothing

7. They will say......
The brave soldiers who gave their lives prevented attacks on US soil. We fought them there so we wouldn't have to fight them here. See, it worked! If we hadn't invaded Iraq, there would have been more attacks on US soil.

This is how they will spin it.

15. Bush administration Iraq Spin
Bush's war in Iraq will not preemt future terror attacks on US soil. Nor will apprehending and/or killing Osama bin Laden and Ayman al-Zawahiri; such actions would only make them martyrs, and increase the number of new Al Qaida recruits. How can this become a Redumblican selling point in November?

22. You're using too many brain cells.
Of course you are right, and the rest of us know it too. Most Americans are aware of the folly of *'s policies. Prior observation says if the repigs can still fool a few people with their backwards logic, they will sure as hell try.

8. Mayaguez incident: 41 soldiers killed to save 40. Prez Ford.
The Khmer Rouge used swift boats to capture the SS Mayaguez. Ford sent in U.S. forces. Prior to the second wave of U.S. attacks the crew of the Mayaguez was released and the ship recaptured. Many U.S. casualties occured after the release.

11. Actually, we should go by the combined numbers
killed in both Iraq and Afghanistan. Non-US coalition forces should be counted as well as US forces, since non-US fatalities are included in the number of deaths from 9/11.

If you go by that, then we've already almost gotten there with the total number of fatalities at 2974 (according to figures posted at icasualties).

13. That is kind of the point. EVEN with their demented reasoning,
when those 2 numbers are the same, even the Osamma connection loses its potency.

As the realization sets in that the Iraqis had absolutely nothing to do with 9/11 AND Osamma is still out there. Well the irony and the tragedy of it all will be gut wrenching.

14. Vietnam-like Casualties
It seems that the higher the casualty level from Iraq, the more parents of servicemen and -women want to reinforce their support of Dumbya, to assert that their loved ones "did not die in vain". Cindy Sheehan is, unfortunately, a rare exception to the rule.

19. Don't you think that Bush using the 9/11 tragedy to get us into Iraq
has anything really to do with the fact that this country did what Bush wanted and thousands of deaths later, what has been accomplished (in the Bushworld way of thinking)? Even using Bush's logic, we have just doubled our number of dead related to us being attacked and the fight on terrorism so what exactly has been accomplished?

20. I want people to ask why we are in Iraq
I want people to ask what has been accomplished. I'm just particularly keen on asking if we have yet killed enough people in revenge for a terrible act they had nothing to do with.

It's just my opinion, of course, but every question that links the two reinforces the misconception that many still have (other than, say, "Mr. Administration Official, why do you keep trying to link 9/11 and Iraq when they don't have anything to do with each other)

On the other hand, I might be willing to concede that we've killed enough people to come home, if it would get us to come home.

23. Its kind of like using thier logic against them.
When Bushco put up the "Mission Accomplished" sign, it was meant to set up many photos for the future glorification of thier "success", now - I think -it causes grimacing, THAT is what I feel saying "9/11 and how many dead in Iraq" is starting to do. It is starting to be the catch all/phrase for everything wrong with this administration. It perfectly vocalizes how they used one tragedy to create an even worse tragedy just for greed and power, much like nails on a chalkboard. There will come a time when they will dread hearing those 2 in the same sentence. They are trying to rewrite history as we speak and the more we cater to the dumbasses that still believe that 9/11 and Iraq have something to do with each other, the more that we bind ourselves in fear of exposing, for all to see and remember, one of the greatest travesties of our leaders in modern day history.

24. The US has killed over 100,000 innocent civilians in Iraq
and the bloodlust has yet to abate!

I don't think any of the 9-11 victims, except for the handful of Freepers that died on that fateful day, would want to have their memories being avenged by the death of nearly 40 innocent men, women, and children for each of the WTC victims.
