This forum seems counterproductive to me.

Many of the threads here consist mostly of supporters of one candidate for 08' attacking supporters of another. As for the threads that do not promote this kind of behavior, they would just as well be posted in GD, where there is a wider an overall more enlightened audience.

A scroll among the topics here shows a wide range of discussion, and within the threads there are plenty of issues-based debates.

it's been far worse other times including all the bash Dem posts. this time it's actually focusing more on going after the Republicans.

To get the candidate flame wars out of GD. You see the admins did not want to be seen to be supressing differing opinions (ie the flame wars) but they also did not want those flame wars to kill GD like they were doing, hence GDP.

Now you are complaining that this forum is redundant? Could it be that you just read some anti-Clark post and decided that you support the supression of such posts?
