this agency appears to be little more than a propaganda, disinformation campaign for the oil industry and its promotion of an imperialist foreign policy ...
C-Span had a woman on this morning from the US Institute for Peace ... she didn't talk about immediate withdrawal from Iraq ... she didn't talk about anti-war demonstrations ... she refused to speak out against the building of permanent military bases ... she didn't say bush was wrong to invade Iraq or to occupy Iraq ... the whole thing was pretty damned fishy ... the USIP representative also refused to answer allegations about the organization's Board of Directors that one caller raised ...
so i went over to their website to check out their bona fides ...
a good place to start on research like this is to check out who's on the Board of Directors ... and the Chair of the Board turns out to be a Mr. J. Robinson West, Chairman, PFC Energy, Washington, DC ...
hmmmmm ... PFC Energy ... isn't that interesting ... better check out their website too ... here's the link:
http://www.pfcenergy.com/from the website's homepage:
PFC Energy helps the world’s leading energy companies solve complex business problems using an integrated network of consultants and analysts from around the globe.
they also have a link to their "government relations" activities:
In countries where governments control preferred access to internal energy markets or exploration and production acreage, and where positions are negotiated rather than just competitively bid, a successful corporate strategy must incorporate a government relations component. PFC Energy assists clients in developing strategies to deal with government relations, which focus on using competitive advantage and differentiation to be seen as a partner of choice. Combining an analysis of regional and global political and economic issues with its insights into national and sectoral forces and trends, PFC Energy formulates innovative strategies and commercial solutions to address relationships with foreign governments.
It appears the US Institute for Peace should be renamed the US Institute for Piece of Iraq's Oil Wealth ...
