So Tony Snow is another freak who "missed out" on easy sex?

I might be behind the times, but I heard today for the first time about Tony Snow's bizarre column in the Washington Times on October 26, 1989.

"Post-Woodstock Americans have destroyed the old taboo about discussing sex but they haven’t disturbed the taboo’s essence, which is to avoid mentioning any of the important stuff. More words about sex probably have been printed since 1980 than in the previous history of mankind, but those words haven’t added a pamphlet’s worth of new truth."

The rest of the column is essentially his diatribe against "free love" as well as the perfunctory lie about how sex education "encourages sexual activity among youth." You know, the standard anti-sex misogynistic boilerplate we've all seen a million times.

If Snow is over 50, I would say he's still harboring some resentment over being rejected by all the hippie chicks of his youth. This seems to be a pattern among these right-wing freaks. For one reason or another (appearance, attitude, etc.), they missed out and still can't get over the fact that their peers were getting it on with all the hot hippie chicks of the era, and they weren't. (Or they're closeted self-loathing types, like Mehlman, McClellan, etc.)

So there's your basic recipe for a right-wing reactionary: Someone so consumed with hatred and resentment at life in general that they want to impose their misery on everyone else.

Hence, he has no real appreciation for sex -- IOW he might as well be whacking it, and that would probably be more efficient for him. He doesn't understand what other people see in the act, and may in fact be jealous of their enthusiasm.
