8. we've all seen our candidates hammered by the media
what they're saying about clark is what they said about dean, kerry, lieberman etc.

ultimately, it's in the hands of the people, and they're not as dumb as you think

14. gotta take issue with that
"it's in the hands of the people, and they're not as dumb as you think"

look at how many were convinced until very recently that saddam was linked to 9/11! don't get me started on "the people".... (no not all but too many!)

25. I agree with you,
I don't think that was a very helpful comment. If that had been the poster's candidate being so blatantly downplayed and disrespected, I don't think he would have said that.

It's not as if Dobbs (or anyone else on his show) took or doctored the polls. If Clark doesn't do well enough tonite (win Oklahoma; have respectable showings elsewhere), he's done, regardless of what the media says.

11. It's not doctored polls
It is the fact that they have given no coverage and they are starting today with negative coverage. When he won 3rd in NH it was all about Edwards. Edwards should have surged he was on a bounce from Iowa and half the tiem they showed Clark in 4th in NH and that was a blatant lie. And of course they will give the results of the east coast votes so that the folks out here in the west can feel like Clark is out of the running. Go ahead root for your media chosen candidate and then wait and see what they do to him in the GE

26. Allowing that the polls are STILL OPEN in OK,
I would say that Dobbs' comments are unconsionable and definitely targeted at attempting to influence any voters who have not yet gone to vote.

The same criticism could be made of MSNBC and FOX who have intimated that Clark is in trouble in OK, and hinted that Edwards would problably win 2 primaries tonight.

The whole process is a farce.

7. This is not a bad candidate
Anyone who gives 35 years of their life for their country and then abandons a cushy retirement where could have made millions to jump into the world of disgusting politics deserves a hell of alot more respect. Kerry had his millions and married into money. Edwards made his money first then went into politics. Clark has more character than the whole of them.

10. thanks for your advice
So your in favor of punditry instead of more coverage of the candidates themselves. I see plenty of things wrong with the media coverage of politics.

I look forward to Wes Clarks book recounting this campaign and how the media works with campaigns.

21. It's the media, stupid
Please. Your statements belie reality and common knowledge.

Polls and media coverage have a huge effect on voter perception. Or are you going to say that the multi-billion dollar advertising industry has no effect on consumer product selection?

Kerry, Dean and Edwards have garnered considerably more media attention than Clark and the other candidates, even though Clark was ahead in polling in a number of states. However, the media chose to focus on South Carolina and the Edwards/Kerry race, to the near exclusion of all others, causing voter perception to tend towards the South Carolina polling distribution.

General Clark and his supporters, including myself, will eventually be at the end of this nomination process, and, victorious or not, we will have been successful. The same cannot be said for some other campaigns and candidates.

22. bingo
my vote will count and will be heard in the end. let those that like how their candidate all of a sudden rose in the polls because the media chose to pump up them up understand that not all Dems will vote for the nominee the GOP and Major Media has forced down our throats.

I will live with the decision that i didn't contribute to the further decline of our country by voting them in, let them live with the fact they did!

9. I was under the impression...
...that Dobbs had "not a lot of love" for Clark. So his slamming on Clark isn't unexpected. And asking me to avoid CNN, in particular Lou Dobbs, is like asking me to avoid Dallas, which comes particularly easy since I don't go to Texas.
