enemies from attacking us again. I can understand that there has to be some sort of surveillance. I would hope that the government(NSA)has some ideas as to whom they should surveil. I don't understand how data mining every phone call made by everybody will help them find these potential terrorists. If in fact they do have some idea as to whom they should surveil - much like they had some idea of some of the alleged terrorists that planned and carried out 9/11 - wouldn't it make sense to listen in just on those calls and go to the FISA court to get the ok - versus - data mining every call ever made.
If they couldn't connect the dots - when they had the Aug 2001 PDB about Bin Ladin's intent on attacking the U.S. how are they going to make sense of every phone call ever made?
If they can explain this logically - maybe I wouldn't be so insensed about this whole issue - but - they don't even try to explain.
It's no wonder we don't trust them.

1. By explaining how it works we would be helping the terrorists the GOP says |
|
So please don't ask them why they do what they do.
Bill Frist said the terrorists are here in the U.S. right now, so we shouldn't talk about this stuff.

3. By terrorists, they mean US: Democrats. |
|
Of course, I think terrorist is a term that better applies to those who willfully let 9/11 happen on purpose.

7. 3,000 deaths: High crime or misdemeanor? |
|
If you or I committed 3,000 murders, would that be a felony or a parking ticket?

6. Did he really say that? |
|
So we're fighting them over there so we won't have to fight them here. But they're already here. Is this what Orwell meant by 'doublethink'?

2. The unwarranted surveillance has NOTHING to do with terra. |
|
They're building a vast political enemies list, and we (along with 71% of the populace) are all on it.
Bush had plenty of advance warning of 9/11 (including the famous "Bin Laden Determined to Strike Inside US" PDB of August 6th). He had thousands of hours of untranslated wire taps. He had freaking Moussaoui. He chose to ignore it all, so he could hand PNAC their Pearl Harbor.
