1. He isn't projecting well tonight
Dean seems very negative and after Edwards was so positive in his speech it's quite obvious. Howard makes me uncomfortable.

22. Yeah, he was glad Dole took a cheapshot at Clark on live TV
after the Iowa caucus. It was one less shot Dean had to take.

3. I didn't like that, either
I was disappointed he didn't stick to a positive message, talking about his merits and record, which he could've easily done.

13. Kind of a shame that he's doing it again, if this is true
Edited on Tue Feb-03-04 09:12 PM by nothingshocksmeanymo
I was fairly supportive of him until a few days ago. Now he's starting to act like Ralph Nader...there's him and everything else is the SAME with no difference. Really sad. The worst thing is he MADE the decision to sit out these races rather than maybe give himself a small loan to recoup his momentum.

8. This is my problem with Dean.
It's not issues; I agree with him on most major issues. And his personality isn't even that annoying to me. It's that he purports to lead a revolution in politics or whatever. Really, he's just calling anyone who disagrees with him a Republican (or Republican-lite), which is just immature.

10. HE DID NOT SAY THAT!
Sorry, Edwards supporter dropping in. He said they were Washington insiders, not Republicans. I totally disagree with him, but I'm not gonna twist his words into something they were not.

BTW, he sounded very resigned.

16. Thank you for that clarification.
And if I might add, Dean is being very very careful not to be too passionate or emotive these days. Maybe that's why he sounds resigned, could be just caution so he doesn't appear "manic" to the media.

20. It was his followup to that where he made that indirect charge
Edited on Tue Feb-03-04 09:15 PM by lancdem
He quoted Harry Truman saying no one wants to vote for a Dem who acts like a Repuke when they could just vote for the Repuke.

31. Shall we count the ways in which they have done exactly that??
Voted FOR an unneccessary war. Voted FOR the rape and pillage of the Constitution. Voted FOR tax cuts for billionaires.

Is that acting like a Democrat?

that Edwards and Kerry supported the war and like Truman said: If you run a republican against a pub, a pub always wins. Now you tell me what he implied.

11. This why so many voters went over to John Kerry.
I wish they had gone to Clark.....but, Kerry is good too.

Dean cannot be this negative. It will surely ruin him in the GE.

14. Did he imply it, or did he actually say it?
Everyone is soooo sensitive to everything Dean says. But I guess Kerry can make snide remarks about "Edwards won't win any states" and that's okay.

BTW, he made the remark, there was a thread about it on DU, and Kerry didn't intend to be overheard.

Trial lawyers are rarely Republicans, especially personal injury trial lawyers.

Of course, if he were honest, he'd have to say that Clinton was a Republican too. I'm sure many of his supporters would agree.

19. Dean just keeps losing my respect...
He more than any other candidate keeps bringing up Harry Truman. As a Missourian and avid fan of the 33rd President, it really REALLY bothers me because Howard Dean is so DIFFERENT than Truman!! And Deaniacs--don't bother trying to refute it because it's true.

Secondly, implying that JFK and JRE are Repugs is just ... uuuuuuggghhh.. "i'll support the nominee".. "the (possible) nominee is a republican".. am I the only one who doesn't like this?

Thirdly.. the only one to balance a budget? Hey Howard the Duck, did I sleep thru the Clinton years when we had a friggin' balanced budget or were you the one hibernating up in Vermont?

Bah!

Where have they all gone? Have they been banned, or have they betrayed Dean? I feel like I'm the last person here who supports Dean.

Not as many as there once was, but that's for reasons that had nothing at all to do with the primaries. I'm with the Doc until he quits. And even if that day comes, I'm not with you-know-who.

32. Again? His tactics are backfiring - he's sinking like a rock, and yet he
continues on this self-destructive path. I think less and less of him daily.

What is REALLY tragic is how he squandered his lead in such a short time and let down his many supporters who sacrificed so much for him and his campaign.
