I'm ready to argue with and work with REAL conservatives.

By Real I mean the:

Ones who believe that what's best for "We, the people" is best for the country.

Ones that think fiscal conservatism is essential.

Ones that aren't thrilled with wide-reaching social programs, but will consider supporting those that help people in achieving independence from social programs.

Ones that want a strong military that is used sparingly and whose leaders are listened to by those in the WH.

Ones that believe diplomacy is a mixture of carrot and stick, with them preferring just a touch more stick than us.

Ones that believe that government intrusion into any aspect of business or personal lives is extremely undesirable.

I would love to sink my teeth into a debate with a genuine conservative..as long as we both want what's best for all the citizens of the country, neither one of us can really lose, even if our idea of "what's best" differs.

We'll never completely agree...but we can sure find "rational middle ground" a lot more efficiently with real conservatives, than with NeoCon Fundies.

Oh yeah, one more thing...Real conservatives are not in any lobbyist's back pocket. MKJ

1. Hmmm.....good luck finding one.
All the conservatives I know are either racist bigots, rich money grubbers, or religious nut cases.

4. I've met some real conservatives
and I'd add one more thing: we both have respect for one another. I think that is key to starting any kind of dialog. And the real conservatives I know aren't happy with Bush, and say he's not a conservative at all.

6. What your going to find might surprise you.
As I've stated in other threads on this subject about the people here in Oregon is there is a virtual mutiny on the bounty occurring on the Bush administration going on. The much tauted drop in the polls by the chimp in chief weren't dems, we've been hip all along. The vast majority are disaffected conservatives. As far as I can see the only ones sticking with the party are those ideologues involved christians and the pro-choice folks. True conservatives have abandoned him and I believe at this point is irreversible. Without some sort of national security trick like an attack on Iran or another terrorist attack or something I believe it's too late. A high number of these are talking about not just staying home but what they think of as a protest vote will vote democratic just to give'em a good whack on the pee-pee.

Check out the tactic that should have effected an increase in support, the tax cut in the last week, a typical railing point in these parts, they by and large, saw strait through it as just another attempt to manipulate them. They really feel duped on the Iraq war issue and that ain't going away. You play these folks out here for fools and you fucked up. They are blaming the problems not on their philosophy but on the hijacking of the conservative party by the neocons.

So I say have at it and come on in the waters fine.

8. Bush is not a conservative, nor are the republicans,
they have become the party of smear, fear, intolerance and pure evil greed!

We the people, are the REAL conservatives!
