Poll question: Out of the candidates still running who would the GOP want for President?

Which candidate as President would most favor the GOP ideals?
For example my mother is a republican and is not going to vote for bush (finally) however, she is interested in Edwards. I am myself a Kucinich supporter.

1. Probably Dean.

They'd probably have more success being obstructionist in the Congress with a guy like Dean than a smoothie like Edwards or a statesman like Kerry. Dean would forever be throwing tantrums and making it easy for the Repugs to paint him as an out-of-control liberal.

Kucinich would be the easiest to caricature because he is, after all, a walking, talking caricature.

2. This poll question should be rephrased

NONE of the Democratic candidates you mention "favor GOP ideals". If you are asking about the ability to attract Republican voters, you should phrase the question that way instead IMHO.

3. Dean is the Clear choice

He is a budget hawk and wont take away their guns.

4. Edwards is the only one with crossover appeal

he's the most moderate on all fronts and far and away the best communicator.

Think Clinton and Carter and what worked for them. Edwards has it all and in spades.

If you think its Clark, his tax ideas will not sell. And thats the least of his problems.

5. I think you misunderstood the question.

But you are right. Clark is the candidate that the GOP and their corporate whores would most certainly NOT want to see in the Oval Office.

They may be shady, but they aren't stupid.

12. IF its about who has a better chance of getting Rep votes

then its Edwards and the rest are bunched in a tie.

If its who they most want to see run against Bush then its a tie for Dean and Clark, then Kerry close behind and Edwards least of all.

Sharpton and Kucinich are not factors.

to budget hawks and other fiscal conservatives. I was always amazed how people would think he was some sort of far left liberal.

Edwards has been nice to the banking industry in his state. For example he voted for a bankruptcy "reform" bill, which basically screwed those declaring banruptcy because of medical reasons, as well as other financial disasters. Oh, and John Kerry voted AGAINST this bill. This is not to say I have anything against John Edwards, but I think people are being VERY unreasonable about John Kerry...I swear if I want this much Kerry bashing I could go over to the New Republic or Kausfiles (Mickey Kaus is an ass hole).

I don't have a clue why republicans would want John Kerry. He has the respect of many in the GOP, but he still has one of the most liberal records in the senate. I really don't believe many people check people's voting records out.

Of course the worst would be Kucinich, because he would turn Washington upside down. Of course he'd end up driving most democrats insane too, which wouldn't be abad thing!

Oh, and I believe this stupid thread should be locked, because frankly none of the democratic candidates would be favored over the monkey sock puppet in office right now.

because President Sharpton would be a democratic president that would be someone they could impeach. As far as the pubs are concerned, 'impeachability' is the first ideal on their list when it comes to potential democratic presidential qualities.

Funny people say Kerry. He's one with the voting record left of Teddy Kennedy.

In most elections I'd say Edwards. But in this one, I'd say Kerry because of national security and small business issues. I think people will live with the social issues this election because everything else is too important.
