Electorally Speaking...Harold Ford

Just an interesting thought.

Seems to me that a Kerry Ford ticket would generate some real excitemnt and put some souther states in play.

The problem is that he looks like a kind and thus not very presidential.

Anyway just a thought.

But I'm not sure if that's a requirement for the vice-presidency. I suppose since the VP's first in line for succession, the rule applies to him or her as well.

I did read the Constitution.

Article II Section 1 has a clause "...neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office {of President} who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty five Years..."

It doesn't say explicitly that the Vice President has to be at least 35. But I figured that the clause was interpreted to apply to those in line for succession as well. But then, does that mean the entire Cabinet must also be at least 35?

Accordingly, the VP must meet the qualifications as set forth in the Constitution.

On second thought, the VP also breaks ties in the Senate and attends state funerals :)

And whether he thinks it's a good for Democrats to run away from their traditional stands on issues that affect working people so as not to offend the ephemeral "moderate swing voter?" I know it's not as "sexy" as as "electability" but could we at LEAST try to find someone with some substance?

I really like Harold Ford as a person. He's feisty but polite -- a deadly combination.

But color aside, he's too much in the mold of the Democratic corporate centrists.

that might actually be a good idea. It could solidify New Mexico for us, and strengthen our chances in AZ, NV and CO.
