on his site, when you get your block of 10 people, you click on a name and the script comes up with the name! they have a place for commentss and ways you can answers their questions. not hard to do at all. after the first one, you're a pro! you don't have to know every fact about Wes to help him out.

I suggest you say something personal also, something that really rings true for you about why you support Clark. Sincerity is a very powerful message to convey. For example, I say that I am 54 and never before have volunteered time to a candidates campaign (all of this is true of course), but that I really trust Wesley Clark to do what is right for our nation. He has already dedicated a lifetime of service to our nation, I'm not looking for a politician, I'm looking for a leader.

So in addition to the script idea, think of something about Clark that stands out for you, that makes you believe in him, that motivates you to call strangers on the phone, and share that with the people you reach also. Sound personal, even to a message machine. You can read the script, but throw something of yourself into it also.

Don't worry about whether you are fully prepared to debate with a passionate follower of another candidate on each and every issue. First off, I've made hundreds of calls and I have never had to do that with anyone. In a very worst case you can always say something like "That's not my understanding of Clark's position, please visit his web site where his positions are explained" or "No one will agree 100% with any candidate on every issue" or something like that.

But the main point is we are not making these phone calls primarily to debate policies with people who firmly support another candidate. We are trying to introduce people more to Clark, people who have not heard that much about him. We are showing people that Clark is very much in this race through our actions of reaching out to voters like them. We are finding out who already supports Clark, so that the campaign can call them on Election day to remind them to vote. We are letting people know that Clark inspires loyalty by the fact that we are willing to volunteer our time on his behalf. There is a strong implicit message in the simple fact that we are willing to do this for Wesley Clark.

Most people don't even bother to vote, so don't be discouraged if most people are not responsive to your calls. We are working the margins, shifting perceptions, swinging a few percentage points, and it makes a HUGE difference. Clark took third in New Hampshire by 850 votes, and first in Oklahoma by 1250 votes. We make a difference.

Thursday, 5 February, 5:30 pm - Wesley Clark is Coming Back to Knoxville!

General Clark is coming back to Knoxville tomorrow (Thursday). He’s attending the rally for the Lady Vols at Calhoun’s Restaurant on Neyland Drive (on the waterfront).

The event is open to the public and everyone will have the chance to meet General Clark in person and ask him some questions.


He plans to arrive at 6:00 pm, but WE NEED TO BE THERE BY 5:30 pm!


Every media outlet will be there to film the event for the evening news, so we need a big crowd. Everyone reading this message needs to do whatever it takes to get there.


Clark is spending virtually the entire week here in Tennessee. He’s putting forth a massive effort to win our state – we need to do our part.
