Actually first thing - when my state finally gets around to voting for a nominee - can a name be written in?

In both cases for nominee and then for Prez - can a name be written in?

1. That changes from state to state. you can ask your precinct judge

or you state's secretary of state should have a website with a FAQ

Checked off "Gore" then wrote in "Gore" where it said "write your choice for president here".

The ability to write in a candidate varies from state to state. In NC, for example, you can write in a presidential candidate, but the state isn't obligated to count them (as it didn't in 2000).

Couldn't one just as "correctly" say that a vote for a Green candidate is an effective vote for the dem nominee?
