Has anyone got poll numbers on Dean and Wisconsin?
Edited on Thu Feb-05-04 10:22 AM by seventhson
After reading this post:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=132&topic_id=273028

I am wondering what his prospects are.

I went to a fundraiser last week and was very impressed and met Dean's mother and brother Jim.

I am making another donation to Dean's campaign today and just hope that it can help him stay in this race.

I love DK.

I kinda like Edwards.

I don't trust Sharpton.

And I think Kerry and Clark are in too deep with the opposition DLC/PNAC et al IMHO.

So...

any numbers and links on Wisconsin? And I URGE those true believers in Dean to put your money where your heart is so he can WIN Wisconsin and keep this campaign alive to NY and California where I beleive he has a chance of winning both.

and I live in Seattle. Look for WA numbers to come out today or tomorrow, although that's just a guess.

3. Regardless of the poll numbers, the optical scanners will zap his votes.
As in New Hampshire.

Dean's poll numbers are likely very high in Wisconsin. But, Dean will not be permitted to win; the computers will do the rest.

5. Are you suggesting that the Dems are running a corrupt primary Lori?
If this is true I am very concerned about it. If it is not I am very concerned about you suggesting it. If you have any evidence of vote tampering, lets see it.

9. Diebold et al are pushing their candidates is the argument
If Bush loses they need one of their own (a DLC status quo corporate centrist) to win.

The numbers in New Hampshire posted in another thread are deeply troubling.

Those of us who have fears about the loyalties of Kerry and Clark have no choice but to TRY top get someone to listen.

Neither Dean nor Edwards are perfect candidates or perfect human beings.

But many of us believe Kerry and Clark are part of the established order who will keep the DLC/PNAC agenda going. They will protect the Bushes and their crimes Hawks in Doves clothing, so to speak.

I Won't trust them. Ever.

Dean/Edwards is the ticket. The doctor and the people's lawyer as opposed to the career politician and the career militarist/lobbyist.

And because of these ties of Kerry and Clark to those who would be likley to fix an election - the facts in New Hampshire ARE evidence of a rigged election.

Not rigged by the dems but rigged by the same people who rigged 2000 and who will rig 2004 it seems.

Democracy will be lost.

PLEASE find me some encouragin numbers. I may be unable to vote for Kerry or Clark. Ever.

12. Yet you support the most corporate centrist in the race - Dean.
His entire record PROVES that while in power Dean supports corporations over the people and the environment.

Kerry's record proves he votes against big business 95% of the time according to all liberal ratings for the environment and labor.

Why pretend it's the other way around, seventhson?

Dean's REAL record doesn't match his coopted rhetoric from internet message boards.

22. in La Crosse (pop. about 50K) some support for Dean, not overwhelming.
I've seen signs and stickers for Dean for quite a while, but people are talking the most about Kerry and Clark. I have also seen several Dennis K. yard signs and stickers around town.

20. Here in Wisconsin we do have a papertrail in case of recounts
Gov. Doyle is well aware of BBV and against it.
I make no prediction about our primary except that Dennis Kucinich will do well here.
Most of all vote on February17th!
Your vote does have a paper trail in Wisconsin.

6. Read no polls but I haven't seen yard signs, or bumper stickers.
So with little to go on, I am thinking that's really the answer--
Dean has little to go on here in western Milwaukee Co.

But early on the local Wisconsin for Dean folks were focused on UW-Milwaukee and east side neighborhoods. Maybe its different over there.

The last Wisconsin poll I saw was from Dec. 14 - 16, had Dean leading with 33% and Lieberman second with 12%.

15. Kerry leading 2 to 1 vs. any other candidate
The poll, taken by the University of Wisconsin Survey Center and sponsored by The Capital Times and Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, has a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percent.

Of the possible candidates mentioned for the White House, John Kerry led, collecting support from 45 percent of Democrats and 29 percent of independents polled. He also was the Republicans' favorite, with 31 percent.

Wesley Clark, John Edwards and Howard Dean picked up no more than one-third of Kerry's level of support, and others even less.

Fifteen percent of Democrats and 23 percent of independents still had not chosen a candidate.

16. Clark is not a PNAC type!
Edited on Thu Feb-05-04 12:44 PM by maxr4clark
Please read the testimony Clark gave before Congress late in 2002; it makes it quite clear that Clark has opposed the PNAC from the very start--Richard Perle, PNAC supporter extraordinaire, complains at length that Clark doesn't support his view, either of what to do in Iraq or how the aftermath will be such a glorious triumph.

Go to the bookstore and look at the last chapter of "Winning Modern Wars". It also gives Clark's view that military domination is (a) un-American, (b) not possible with the kind of military we have, and (c) not a good idea, even if we could do it. Clark STRONGLY supports economic aid to other countries as the way America can build economic ties to the rest of the world, and STRONGLY supports exporting goods and services that America is best able to provide to the rest of the world as the way to build a better economy.

Clark is as far from the PNAC as one can get.

17. I do not believe it
He was pitching the war and speaking out of both sides of his mouth at Davos a year ago. Promoting this war. Doing it without Europe and other allies was his only real qualm as I see it.

Look --- I pray I am wrng about Clark if he gets anywhere into power (again).

But I will not trust him because of his ties to Axciom and the Stephens group and the guys who run the antiDean Vermont nipple ring hater ads.

23. But "doing it without Europe and other allies" is the crux of it!
Europe, the UN, other Arab nations agreed that Hussein was a Bad Man, that he was aggressive, and that his regime needed to end. The big question was, does the US attack another country without provocation, or not?

Clark said No. He urged Congress to say No. His stand on this is essentially the same as Kucinich's: Hussein is no more of a threat to the US than he is to any other civilized country, and he should be dealt with internationally, at shared cost and giving Islamic extremists no one country to blame for it.

Did you read the testimony before you answered? Isn't the most important question what he said on the record, before the vote?

21. Badger poll: Kerry way ahead

The poll was taken while Joe Lieberman was still in the running (he was preferred by 4 percent of Democrats and 8 percent of independents), so the numbers may have moved since then. Fifteen percent of Democrats and 23 percent of independents still had not chosen a candidate.

In a separate question inviting respondents to suggest a president, 4 percent said "anybody but Bush."

"Things are still fairly up in the air, people are not terribly anchored," Ferree said. "A lot will depend on what people hear about specific candidates."
