Here is my little parking lot/bumper sticker encounter w/ a Bush guy:
I was driving to pick up a few household items at the grocery store when I spotted a guy (maybe sixty?) getting into a car with a "Veterans for Bush" bumper sticker. I just couldn't resist. I pulled up to him and said: "I'm really surprised you've got a Veterans for Bush sticker! He's done nothing but bad things to vets! You've got to be kidding me!" His reaction surprised me. He kept getting in his car, and smiled at me sheepishly. He didn't have any comeback. It was like he couldn't wait to get away from me (I was affecting a gee-whiz attitude, and I'm a medium-sized female -- not at all threatening looking). I got the feeling that maybe I wasn't the first person to say something to him -- he almost seemed cowed.

7. Thanks.
Usually I don't say anything but silently fume. I was just so fed up I had to speak up.

18. I'm with you there, silently fuming can only go so far.
Keep speaking up! They will question their beliefs when asked enough times.

9. Hey SammyBlue
Your subliminal is very disturbing. Everyone who reads your page gets that message. After looking at the page more closely, I saw your intended target.

May I suggest that you change that to EVOLVE? We need rapid evolution, for some, that will be suicide; but others will see a different message and IMHO, we are satuated with violence toward others and ourselves.

EVOLVE

2. Maybe he's not really a veteran.
Of course, Bush isn't really a veteran, either.

10. Why was that obnoxious?
I just made a comment. Last time I checked, we still had some free speech in this country. The other thing is that the right wing has been so overbearing and in-your-face for years (like the fucking evangelicals who bother me by ringing my doorbell! -- I still think they have the right to do it.) I think we on the left need to make our presence known. Otherwise, these Rush Limbaugh/Fox people think the entire country is made up entirely of people just like them.

20. I am also called an ass when I post the fact that I'm proud enough
of what I believe to have open discussions with strangers in public about what is going on in this fucked up world. Welcome to the Ass Club, patriot.

11. Increasingly typical ......
They know what's going on. They know Il Dunce has little respsct for military *people* ..... just a love for playing with rubber toy army guiys and watching shit blow up real time, but from a safe distance on camera.

So they have this problem. They know they bought the bullshit line and admitting one is wrong is very tough for some people. My own theory is that the less one chooses to do some critical thinking, the harder it is to admit error.

And so we find guys like this guy. He's happy enough to show silently his 'stay the course' ideal, but very unprepared when someone actually asks him about it and cites some basic facts.

He knows the facts. In his heart. He just can't admit (yet) that he fucked up.

We need to have some other people who've changed out there 'testifyin' to it'. Show them the way. They **want** to follow, but right now just can't, at least not openly. But in their heart .... they know.

If it had been about Clinton's penis, you can be sure he would have found time.

14. nationwide epidemic- Conservatives are now AFRAID to argue.
I remember when they LOVED to argue about Clinton- I dont think they can process anything unless it is about a fake issue or someone else having sex.

It's funny as hell- all my rleatives who used to make great sport out of political debate during the Clinton sex-scandals now claim they are now "tired of all the arguing."

I make it clear to them that they are not tired of arguing per se- they are just tired of LOSING arguments.

17. That's what I take from it
These assclowns and their phony arguments couldn't come thick and fast enough all the way through Shock 'n' Awe. But when the "cakewalk" turned into the "cake forced death march" they're suddenly very tired of all the arguing. That is, they're tired until Rush or Sean or Joe or Chris or George or somebody else gives them another half-baked talking point. Then you'll hear nothing but "cut and run" or "tax and spend," as if Democrats suddenly came into power. Confront them over it, make them think about it for more than three seconds, and their arguments fall apart.

They're not tired of all the arguing. They're tired of looking like the chumps they are.
