"It looks from 7 p.m. (Tuesday, the night of the primary) to 7 p.m. we did about $200,000 online," said campaign spokesman Roger Salazar. After coming in second in Iowa last month, the senator from North Carolina racked up roughly $100,000 the following day.
Before setting out for another round of intense campaigning in Tennessee and Virginia, which are holding their contests next Tuesday, Edwards added more to his coffers with a quick trip to attend fund-raisers in New York City and New Jersey.
Edwards was trying to blunt the growing lead of front-runner Sen. John Kerry (news - web sites) of Massachusetts. However, Edwards was not campaigning in Michigan where his rival had a commanding lead ahead of the contest there on Saturday.
