And.. they are pretty good.

Focus on Deans record vs. Kerry's "rhetoric"

Conversational, calm.. nice spots.. hopefully they make a diffrence.
If you want to kick some cash thier way for buying more air time tomorrow.. I think its still open.

I am a 29 year old mortgage banker, recently moved from Orange County. I spend much of my free time writing & pursuing other aspects of personal growth. Aside from a work of fiction & ongoing song/poetry writing, I am preparing an essay detailing my journey from staunch Republican to passionate Howard Dean supporter. After being a lifelong republican, who fervently supported George W. Bush in 2000, I am appalled at the utter arrogance this administration shows, with it's imperialistic policies. Clearly we are on a path to make enemies of our friends in the world, to disregard & scrap the Constitution, to destroy & rebuild nations, thus creating puppet governments beholden to ours while our own people suffer without proper healthcare and education, or an adequate supply of hope or truth. Many claim that Howard Dean cannot win in 2004, or that he is too angry. I say that we should all be angry at what is going on, and I want an angry candidate. The alternative is to continue to elect ineffective candidates without the backbone to stand up against the policies of the past four years & make real wholesale change. It will take anger, determination & a disregard for polling figures & nay-sayers to effect real change & take our country back from those who would redistribute power & wealth from the population as a whole to a very few individuals & corporations. I have formed the 527 group WWW.TRUTHANDHOPE.ORG with the specific intent of raising funds to finance advertising campaigns to expose the hypocrisy of Senator Kerry, while revealing the message of truth & hope spread by Governor Dean.

6. He's a fascinating guy.
Really, he is. As a Republican, he feels rather like we do, that we don't really have a home base anymore in our party. People are signing up all day, and I think there are other things going on as well..

See, what people really don't get is that this is about the party's failings and our country's danger, and Dean is just the messenger. We want him to continue to be the messenger.

If he is forced to drop out, we will still be around to make a difference.

My husband is a Republican in recovery too, and they make the most zealous
supporters! Once he realized how he'd been brainwashed his whole life, he became one angry dude. Most recently he worked for the Wellstone campaign. *That outta give one an idea of his turn around. ;)

Dean was raised in a staunch Republican home also. That is why he's so effective at calling them on their bullshit.

7. Amen, SISTER!
No way am i willing to let go of the hope and promise that have inspired me as a result of Dean and his campaign. Not now, not ever. And there are a helluva lot of us who feel the same damned way.

9. And an Amen to your Amen, Eloriel.
There is too much passion now, and with all the support we are garnering and keeping together in groups......the party will have to contend with us for sure.

Edited on Thu Feb-05-04 11:30 PM by mopinko
this really struck me, compared to the post here yesterday about dean's days washing dishes and skiing in aspen as a young man. he came from a rich family. they could have bought a place in aspen for young howie to ski. character. the guy has character.
and this kind of thing is exactly what the campaign needs. go eugene.

10. More about Eugene and his convictions.
From the section called Founder at Truth and Hope:

SNIP...."In early 2003 he took a trip to Europe. It was there that he met a group of people from all over the world, with different backgrounds & different lifestyles who in a short period of time, in an isolated setting began to let their guards down, shake off the defensive masks & tear down the walls that so many of us hide behind. In that time & place, this diverse group sharing openly made a life-changing impact upon him. He began to see how deep inside we are so much more alike than we are different and that it is through learned behavior, rather than natural tendencies & sinking into comfort zones that people isolate themselves from each other & ultimately from community, truth and hope.

Upon returning to the US, he examined his life in a frank & open way. It was then that the ideas of isolationism of the self, of circles of families & friends began to crystallize. Having been isolated in Orange County, inundated with conservative notions of right & wrong, detached from the realities of what most of our country & the world live & struggle with day to day, he like so many others lived by the impulses of perception rather than truth, of fear rather than hope. Determination set in to try & effect change. Seeing this as a top - down issue, the impending election was a clear opportunity to begin to change the national philosophy which had been growing ever more fearful & isolated, since arrival of George W. Bush in the White House. After months of listening openly to the tired rhetoric of the major opposition candidates, who had served as accomplices to George W. Bush's actions, it became clear that there was only one hope for real change:

Governor Howard Dean stood out as the one candidate who combined not only the steadfastness & moral courage to stand against George W. Bush, when it was not popular to do so, but the organization & momentum required to actually win the Democratic nomination & have the opportunity to face Bush in open debate. With this chance, he could clearly state what & how things would be different, were he President for the last four years not only the next four, something the other candidates could not do, for they had supported the President at every turn. It became clear that in this most important of elections, there was one message of Truth & Hope. The time had come for doing, rather than just saying all that could be done, in this most important fight of our lifetime.

That is how TruthandHope.Org was born."END SNIP
