Poll question: After Clark loses the nomination, if he runs as an independant...

After Clark loses the nomination, if he runs as an independent, would you leave the democratic party and vote for him?

3. He said he won;t take VP...

though don't know about sec of defence...

Though I'm more curious about his supporters... if they care more about CLark than the democratic party.

2. It depends
On how much support he appears to have. I will vote for the candidate with the best chance of defeating Bush. (I couldn't vote in your poll it was too black and white).

4. What's not clear about the question.

If the race was between Bush on the repuke ticket, Dean on the democratic ticket, and Clark on the independent ticket... would you leave the democratic party and vote for Clark?

5. I didn't vote--I support Dean....but the numbers so far.....
Suggest that at least a few Clark supporters are more interested in their candidate than they are in defeating Bush.

6. Clark may lose the nom, but he isn't the type to run as an Indy
Indies are always outsiders who have little conception of the bottom line and virtually no conception of "the lesser of two evils". Which isn't to say that Dean is either an evil or a lesser. But unless the good doctor turns into an axe-weilding pychopath the week after the convention, there's just no way Clark isn't gonna endorse him and work for his election. So will any other candidate interested in picking up the pieces in time for 2008.

8. I feel the same way as I would about Dean
WEarlier I saw the "What if Dean loses the nomination, would he run on a third party ticket?" thread before and tried to post to it but it got locked. I wanted to say that I didn't believe Dean would do that. I don't believe Clark would either.

If either man tried that I would stick with the Democratic Party deep into the Election, and would only break ranks for a third party if I became convinced that only the third party had a chance to defeat Bush, that the Democrats were running a week third in other words. Very, very, unlikely scenarios.

11. Locking....
1. If you start a thread in the General Discussion forum, you must present your opinion in a manner that is not inflammatory, which respects differences in opinion, and which is likely to lead to respectful discussion rather than flaming. Some examples of things which should generally be avoided are: unnecessarily hot rhetoric, nicknames for prominent Democrats or their supporters, broad-brush statements about groups of people, single-sentence "drive-by" thread topics, etc.

Please feel free to repost using a less inflammatory subject line.

Thanks,

DU Moderator
