I wonder how, exactly, they could possibly know who is really gonna bother to show up to vote in November. I know the numbers are good for us now - But I also think they are really understated, too.

We are going to show up for sure. We are pissed. And I just really doubt a lot of "true goper's" will bother to vote at all. They know they screwed up.

I'd go as far to say - if we tried to "recast Ohio" as of November 2004 - today - a lot of Bush voters would deny how they voted back then - they'd swear they voted Kerry. Revisionist Americans that we are - I think in a good way.

Its over for them - have no doubt, and they know it.

I notice also they don't call the fight now underway for Baghdad "Phase Two" anymore. You know - it implies they lost "Phase One" -

We can get the senate now, too. They are toast.

1. In 1994, no one expected the Democrats to lose the congress.

They were expected to lose many seats (in part because they had so many to start with) and they ended up losing the congress.

The same thing may happen again but in favor of the Democrats. The Senate will be more difficult (50/50 looks most likely) to win back, but it IS feasable.

In 1994, we had 257 Democrats in the House, 57 in the Senate, and 32 Governorships.
Currently: 203 Democrats in the House, 45 in the Senate, and 22 Governorships.

Range of seats that we could win this Fall:
House: 212-240
Senate: 48-53
Governor: 26-31

3. Good post.

I have never seen the country this polarized in my life. I have never seen a day when "true" liberals and conservatives truly agree on the central issue of our time.

And we do now - I think those polls do not begin to capture the mood of our country.

I live in an upscale area of the valley (LA) I thought always went republican - I assumed.

AND I tell you for a fact - I go into gas stations and I see older people - WWII age people get out of their cars and sarcasticlly say "Heil Bush" before they fill up their tanks. They are mad as hell. And they earned the right to be so.

It is over for gop - they so screwed this thing up.

Every desperate means they have now will come out to avoid it - But I am sure and will bet Americans aren't so dumb, afterall.

Just a few more weeks now. I think its true - justice is best served cold.

4. The comforting thing is - they can't do it.

This is not one election where you could smear one person - and they did smear Kerry (and he sure wan't my first choice). They have to do it over 400 times. If they were going to try and cheat - they have to try and do so over 400 times, 400 + different elections - simultaneously.
And I tell you every numbers person in the country is going to be watching closely. As I sure will. Jesus Christ couldn't pull this one off.

The other thing, painful thing - this deal in Baghdad is so sad. And every slow news day it is going to be on our TVs. Personally, I can't watch it anymore - just too much, you know.

We do win. I just want to try and make sure they can't come back. And that means taking the senate - and we can we can do that right now.

5. What it really means... once we win...

is a purge is absolutely neccessary.
A giant flushing of that whole culture of corruption.
The pukes have spent years ousting democratic civil servants
and replacing them with rightwing operatives (their words).
This cancer needs to be dug out and destroyed.

I hate the sound and the inferences of a "purge".
but if any time in world history called for one...
now's the time... or rather, November's the time.

6. Remember that "Silent Majority"? Well, that's been us. No more.

Polls are taken of course. I suppose cleverly worded questions can lead one to know with some certainty who will vote and who will not. Good samples abound, target audiences too. You know, they do it all the ways they can.

So I don't doubt the numbers too much. People are fired up. Nobody likes having been lied to and everyone knows that is exactly what happened. I tell the boys all the time, 'there's nothing more important you can do than go vote in November'. I tell them I don't give a rat's ass who they vote for, but they have to vote. Then of course I tell them the reason they have to vote is to protect us from the fascists Republicans who have taken over - which is true. Young guys, old farts my age, educated women, professionals and day workers, I talk to a lot of folks, its all the same:

8. I don't actually fault pollsters about it.

But they CAN'T measure it - who exactly is going to vote, for real??

Its one thing when you on the other end of a phone call - it is quite another when your in the ballot box.

They will stay home, too ashamed of 2004 - I believe it. It is a natural reaction. But we are gonna vote for a fact!
