Poll question: How much money have you donated to your candidate?
Edited on Fri Feb-06-04 11:01 AM by hobbes159
I was totalling up the donations I've made to my candidate of choice since last year, and was a little surprised at how much it was!

The question is, how much money, total, have you donated to your favorite candidate since the start of the campaign?

2. $200 so far...
... even though I really shouldn't have. More will come if my guy wins the nomination, or I get a steady job, whichever comes first.

4. $220 plus........
$50 in t-shirts, $50 in buttons (mostly to pass out to others), 5 days in Iowa, 2 days in New Hampshire, and many, many more hours here at local events, house parties, visibility, etc. Using my day job salary as a guide, at $15/hour, that adds another $2500 value or so... so far.

6. Here's what I'm doing ..
I've donated a bit to a few organizations such as the dnc and moveon.org ... but starting next month I plan on donating all of the tax cut that I got from geedubya to organizations devoted to defeating ol' whistleass. This will include the democratic candidate.

I reckon I'm one of the fortunate few, I got approx $100 extra a month with the decline in the marriage penalty tax and reduction in rates. But I am incensed that my grandchildren (5, 3, 2 and 6 months)will have to pay MUCH higher taxes when they start working.

7. If you choose to do this poll again....
please have an option of $0.00. I imagine many if not most of the people here at DU have not donated yet, so they could vote in the 0-200 range and it really wouldn't tell us if they have made a donation or not.

I would be curious about the ratio of donors to nondonors.

8. Good point
It would also make a good poll in and of itself -- have you made a donation, do you plan to in the primary, plan to in the GE, etc...

13. Waiting for a nominee
Then the wallet opens up. I just can't justify giving a democrat money to attack another democrat, especially when that money can be used to beat bush.

I suspect that there are a lot of people like me (in addition to people who have been giving already) who will generate lots of small donations to beat bush.

14. Last year we gave Dennis Kucnich.
Last year we gave Dennis Kucinich almost $650. Liked to have given him $2.000... We make our donations to Dennis in several smaller donations of under $250...Does that mean each time we give him a small donation it gets matched by the FEC?
This month there will be another local Kucinich house party with DK present..That inspires us to give until it hurts. Think this time anywhere from $250 to $500 range.?
He is the only one running for president we would give more that $15 to, if that.
