Harold Ford's CSPAN Campaign 2006 Appearance...

I watched a re-run of his speech last night. And I must say, that boy is one hell of a candidate (a fine American too).

He's passionate, smart, and articulate. He's quick on his feet in Q & A sessions too. He really knows how to hit all the right issues that will...

1. Keep his base happy.
2. At the same time give him some credibility among more conservative Independents in TN and moderate Republicans (both of which he will need in order to win in November).

If he can somehow get through this campaign and pull off a victory. I could definitely seem him on a presidential ticket within the next two presidential election cycles.

2. It was excellent

The first time I clicked away because CSPAN led off with an appearance by Bush at a Corker event. But I caught Ford's segment in an early AM replay.

He has that Clinton-type ability to speak with passion and proper emphasis for a long period of time without referring to notes or any awkward pauses where he's trying to remember what comes next. And when there was unexpected applause he had the instincts to pause, smile, and let it end. That drove me mad in '04 when Kerry would talk over his own applause lines.

My favorite part was when Ford mentioned the oil chain, borrowing from China to buy from the Middle East and pump through Alaska in pipes manufactured in Japan. He repeated it for emphasis, and perfectly. I'd like to see Bush try that, remembering or comprehending a 4-part sequence.

What made it even better was the fact that the audience didnt understand the first time around, so he said - "Wait. I dont think ya'll heard me. Ill say it again".

Another thing that impressed me was Ford's manners. Everytime he addressed an audience member, he did so with a 'Yes sir' or 'Yes Mam'... I like that
