US Army Sgt: bin Laden "hiding like a little mouse in a cave from a snake"
'Revenge' pushes hunt for bin Laden in Afghanistan

U.S. troops set up a base along Pakistan's border in Kandaksai, Afghanistan.

http://www.cnn.com/2006/WORLD/asiapcf/09/03/afghan.sept11.ap/index.html

NARAY, Afghanistan (AP) -- Hundreds of American soldiers at this remote outpost are keeping up the hunt for Osama bin Laden even though the trail's gone cold, still motivated by memories of the hijacked and crashed airliners of five years ago on September 11. "Revenge was a big part of it," said 24-year-old Lt. Mike Vieira of the U.S. Army's 10th Mountain Division. The unit's 600 soldiers arrived here in February at what was then the army's northernmost outpost along Afghanistan's border with Pakistan.

From the base, called Forward Operating Base Naray, soldiers can spy ethnic Pashtun tribesmen and militants walking on a nearby ridge that marks the border with Pakistan. It's a known passage for surreptitious crossings. At least seven soldiers, including the battalion's first commander, Lt. Col. Joseph J. Fenty of Florida, have been killed in ambushes and helicopter crashes during the mission. The troops are pushing into areas of eastern Afghanistan where anti-U.S. insurgents have long operated unchallenged.

The steep, wooded valleys offer countless hideouts and natural vantage points for militants to stage ambushes.

"These mountains are very, very ruthless," says Sgt. Ross Gilbert, a 24-year-old Californian. On his third tour to Afghanistan since the U.S.-led invasion in late 2001 toppled the Taliban regime, Gilbert said the failure to capturing bin Laden is a major frustration for him and fellow infantrymen. "But I know he is hiding somewhere and he is not able to get out and around," Gilbert said. "He is hiding like a little mouse in a cave from a snake. Right now he is on the run. He ain't got nowhere to go and one of these days we'll get him."

4. If Bin Laden is hiding in a cave somewhere, then pray tell...
Where does he get the electricity to run the machines needed for his twice-a-week dialysis treatments? And how do they lug that heavy machinery across such rugged terrain without surveillance sattelites tracking what should be quite obvious transport of heavy machinery?

Inquiring minds want to know! :hi:

13. I too doubt that he is hiding out in a cave somewhere...
but there is a lesser known method to receive dialysis called Peritoneal Dialysis.

"In PD, a soft tube called a catheter is used to fill your abdomen with a cleansing liquid called dialysis solution. The walls of your abdominal cavity are lined with a membrane called the peritoneum, which allows waste products and extra fluid to pass from your blood into the dialysis solution. The solution contains a sugar called dextrose that will pull wastes and extra fluid into the abdominal cavity. These wastes and fluid then leave your body when the dialysis solution is drained. The used solution, containing wastes and extra fluid, is then thrown away. The process of draining and filling is called an exchange and takes about 30 to 40 minutes. The period the dialysis solution is in your abdomen is called the dwell time. A typical schedule calls for four exchanges a day, each with a dwell time of 4 to 6 hours. Different types of PD have different schedules of daily exchanges.

One form of PD, continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD), doesn't require a machine. As the word ambulatory suggests, you can walk around with the dialysis solution in your abdomen. Another form of PD, continuous cycler-assisted peritoneal dialysis (CCPD), requires a machine called a cycler to fill and drain your abdomen, usually while you sleep. CCPD is also sometimes called automated peritoneal dialysis (APD)..."

I've seen first hand with my mother the damage that years on dialysis will do to a human body. It's my opinion that Bin Ladin doesn't even suffer from kidney failure.

He's pretty handy to keep around when they need to scare us to vote a certain way or start a war.

6. That eleventh-hour video tape worked wonders in the 2004 election...
...I mean, who woulda thunk it? A mere stone's throw from John Kerry becoming the 43rd president of the United States, known boogeyman OBL emerges from his hidey-hole with a new "I'm going to kill you all" epic.

WHO woulda thunk it?

11. I'm surprised there wasn't more outrage over Bin Ladins pre election speil
being selectively released. Kerry said nothing.

12. A few months back, Kerry said he lost because of that tape...
...which has nothing to do with what he might have said at the time of its release, and the source on this was Geraldo Rivera, so take it with as many grains of salt as necessary. I don't know if this has ever been debunked or if Kerry has responded on record:

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,139060,00.html

NEW YORK — John Kerry believes he lost to President Bush because of the video from Usama bin Laden that surfaced just days before the Nov. 2 presidential election. The Massachusetts senator told FOX News' senior correspondent Geraldo Rivera that he believes he lost because the tape may have scared the American electorate.

Rivera spoke to Kerry on Thursday as the senator and a slew of other notable names — including wife Teresa Heinz Kerry, actors Robin Williams and Morgan Freeman and comedian Chris Tucker — were in a holding room prior to the processional leading up to the formal opening of the Clinton Presidential Library in Little Rock, Ark.

"Tough luck, senator," Rivera said to Kerry, referring to the Democrat's election loss. Trying to recount Kerry's words verbatim, Rivera said Kerry responded by saying:

"It was that Usama tape — it scared them (the American people)."

7. Is that what they are told? I find it questionable
at best. They amount of force used to go after him is minimal.
I don't trust this administration. I think they are motivated
by political gain. I this this is using the military for that.
I doubt anyone knows where OBL is. With the exception of Bush &
the criminals.
