Predict the GOP strategy and Big Event(s) to retain control in 2006
My predictions:

1. At least two more terrorist cells with alleged designs on airplanes will be foiled between now and November 7. They might not be any more credible than the wannabes from Florida, but that won't matter. Gotta make Bush2 look like a protector and convince the gullible that there are terrorists behind every tree.

2. Bush2, his cabal and his media minions will increase tenfold the effort they've already started - to portray a House or Senate with a Dem majority as a threat to national security.

3. Another threatening Osama tape will surface, probably in late October.

4. The repubs and their PACs will spend b'zillions on fearmongering through TV and radio spots, starting in late September.

What do you predict?

1. Probably a little of all 4
Does it work?

I don't know. The American people are child-like.

2. I think you make some good predictions, but I don't think voters are
nearly as susceptible to those tricks as in the past.

After New Orleans, there is no support for Bush as a domestic protector.

And with Iraq ablaze, his standing as a forceful world leader is a joke. Angela Merkel just told Dubya to cram it on Iran within the last 48 hours. The PNAC vision is a clouded mess, and Dubya, even tho he's not on the ballot, is OF the ballot, and he and his party are going to be held accountable. For a change.

A big night coming up for Democrats in November.

3. Every single ones of us need to be picketing and lobbying for the
outlawing of the electronic voting machines. If we don't do that, and they jack this election again, it's really our own fault.

4. None of which works this time.
After six years of flapping Repuke gums, and five years of utter wreckage and zero results, the people have realized that ChimpCo cannot govern, that Congress has been solely a rubber stamp for ChimpCo, and that the corruption in this administration knows no bounds.

The people are not in any mood for more of the same bullshit. They want action, the kind that only comes from a new direction, a different party in control.

We are going to decimate the Repukes this November, if Dems fight the fight.

6. Use more troops in Iraq to keep the lid from blowing off.
Troops fighting to save Republican asses at the polls. Pretty sad.

Then the GOP tag team of Bush, Condi, Dick, and Don will come out one after the other to tell people how Dems just don't understand the real world. There are icky brown people with children whose lives mean nothing that are out to take our freedoms. The Dems want to invite terrorists into our country and give them welfare and plastic explosives.

Around late October, Bin Laden will release another videotape to try to help the Republicans again. There's no collusion there, it's just good business for Bin Laden to keep Republicans in power and screwing up.

New Orleans will not be hit by a hurricane this year, and the GOP will claim credit.

7. Not only do I agree, here's one more prediction from me:
Edited on Mon Sep-04-06 11:53 PM by amb123
By November 7th some insane Neo-Con, claiming that God, President Bush and Rush Limbaugh told him to, will attempt or succeed in blowing up a local Democratic Party headquarters somewhere. These Nazi Neo-Con's believe that we are quite literally the "Demon Spawn of Hell" and will do anything to destroy those of us who fight the treason of the Bush Administration.

8. You give them too much respect. Things didn't get this messed up
to where they are about to lose it all on purpose. They have totally lost control of events.

9. Same As 2004,
high class Republican mobilization tactics combined with Democrats looking weak and aimless. That is IF they win. Things have changed a great deal in the past two years, I doubt the Republicans still have the ability to pull off an overall victory. With any luck more of them will take a page from Arnolds playbook, pretend to be Dems, and do half our work for us untill November.:eyes:

Oh, and nice site, glad to be here!

11. alerts do not have the same effect any more
a few short days after September 11, 2001 - people were mobbing army surplus stores for gas masks, hardware/home improvement stores saw plastic sheeting and duct tape flying out the door.

during the next big 'alert' - there were the "attack detectors" being sold, detectors to warn you if there were radioactive particles in the air.

then there was the rush to buy canned goods and other survival equipment.

all this boosted bush*'s numbers and secured the repubs control over congress.

5 years later and who knows how many alerts -the only flurry of activity are reporters on TV mega-echoing the latest alert, and viewers quickly channeling surfing past it. bush/gopers do not enjoy the same "bounce"

Rove advocated pushing fear for this year's (s)elections - but just telling people to be afraid (again) hasn't worked.

We have the 5th year anniversary of September 11 in a few days. bush is scheduled to visit each site to remind us why we need to afraid.

Rhetoric, photo-ops and an alert or two won't help the GOPers this time.

We hope if the DEMS gain control there will be at least some real effort to stop the bush freight train from smooshing us into the tracks.

If you subscribe to the "needing a Pearl Harbor type event" theory of GOPers/PNAC as an excuse to invade Iraq (et al) and looking at the current political climate as being anti-incumbent - then the gopers need a 9-11 type event to save their sorry butts.

The problem with another 9-11 type event on US Soil is that it would kind of screw GOPer arguments that we are safer with them. There will be an attack, it won't be on US soil, but close enough where we feel the "blast" to ensure we are sufficiently frightened to once again go scurrying and hide behind the "bushes"

2-3rd week in October - sufficient time before Nov. 7 (s)elections for GOPers to exploit it, and insufficient time for DEMS to adequately respond
