Here's why I like Sen Byron Dorgan (D-ND)

While streaming the Ed Schultz show a while ago, they played a clip from a debate between Sen Dorgan and some supply-side reaganomics professor from the University of Chicago. The Professor was making the usual lame comment about the average income having gone up during the scrub II years etc.
Sen Dorgan chimes in with this analogy:

"9 guys are sitting in a bar drinking a beer and Bill Gates walks in. The average yearly income of everyone in that bar is now over a million dollars. That's the bush economy."

What I like about it is...It's succinct and it's a perfect sound-bite for the water cooler crowd. Sen Dorgan understands the concept of sound-bite and that's how you sway people if you only have thirty seconds of time.

on edit: I also like the "D" next to his name. Sen Dorgan - "D" ND

1. Dorgan is great and too often underated.
He's long been an outspoken advocate on issues such as trade and economic justice. He was also way out froont trying to combat media consolidation in the 1990's.

Not a flashy guy -- but a great Democratic senator,

2. That's good.
I don't know much about him though. I assume since he is from a fairly red state, that he isn't as progressive as DUers would like.

I don't understand how the line jumping works up there.
