Regarding the MSNBC announcement about ABC 9/11 Mockucrap
Edited on Thu Sep-07-06 12:51 PM by AtomicKitten
It appears MSNBC was done some infotainment speculation on the upcoming ABC announcement and NOT solid news-reporting.

Somebody else in LBN heard the same announcement I did too.

I posted it here because I didn't have a link (it was heard on TV), and apparently for good reason.

8. Ease up, Breaking news is always inexact, but something was breaking
and it is something most of us really care about. The original post was clear that the reports cited were coming off of live television without back up confirmation. I appreciate any heads up based on live broadcast reporting. I just take it with a grain of salt until deatails get filled in.

9. well, if it's any consolation to the brow-beaters
Edited on Thu Sep-07-06 12:59 PM by AtomicKitten
that's why I posted here and not in LBN. I heard it on cable news which further indicts their worthlessness, but I didn't just pull it out of my ass. It's not as if this category of discussion (politics) on DU is exempt from discussing rumors, right?

Later.

18. Oh, come on.
I am also disappointed that it didn't happen - at least not yet (there's still an announcement coming from ABC, perhaps AK was just being psychic!). But, if you or I or anyone heard that on MSNBC, we'd be just as excited to share it with DU!

21. I reported it like I heard it, but maybe it was wishful thinking
Sometimes the expectation that the world will right itself on its axis and truth and decency will prevail precludes me from being cynical all the time.

I'm beginning to think speculation made by a commentator was misconstrued as actually the news.

I will sit in the corner now for 10 minutes.

29. Nah....sentence comuted. After all, if they don't really pull it, you may
have to watch it. Between that and the bucket o' crap you've already had to deal with, you're done!

12. Yup. That was me...
But I myself heard that an announcement would shortly be made by ABC re: the mockumentary. And Clinton's spokesman just said if the announcement is anything short of them taking it down completely they won't be satisfied.

6. You Did Hear It?
Well that's two, at least.

I was one of the skeptics who kept alerting the mods. I'd have expected 10 new GD threads on it in the time it took that one LBN thread to get to 25 replies.

10. Clinton officials to ABC: Fix or pull 9/11 miniseries
Maybe this is what you heard:

"NEW YORK (AP) -- A miniseries about the events leading to the September 11 attacks is "terribly wrong" and ABC should correct it or not air it, former Clinton administration officials demanded in letters to the head of ABC's parent company.

Former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, former National Security Adviser Sandy Berger, Clinton Foundation head Bruce Lindsey and Clinton adviser Douglas Band all wrote in the past week to Robert Iger, CEO of The Walt Disney Co., to express concern over "The Path to 9/11."

The two-part miniseries, scheduled to be broadcast on Sunday and Monday, is drawn from interviews and documents including the report of the September 11 commission. ABC has described it as a "dramatization" as opposed to a documentary.

Calls to ABC seeking comment Thursday were not returned..."

16. this was clearly a BS speculation from the announcer
but when one hears it on TV one assumes it's, like, actually the news

HA, HA, HA, HA, HA

Jesus, that's the LAST time I give the crap passing on TV as news any credibility. I don't want to hear their opinions, I want the facts. Jack.

20. don't feel bad, jenmito
I had the news on in the other room and heard it while I was working (so I can't identify who said it), but it apparently was a side comment. I reported exactly what I heard, and if that info was passed to you, at least somebody else heard the comment too.

Ah, perhaps we are wishing too hard that decency and truth will prevail.

They said they would have an 'announcement' from ABC. They did. Problem is, it was the same meaningless 'fuck you' crap we heard yesterday.

You heard what you thought you heard, as I said above. The bad was from ABC, who just reissued the same crap they issued yesterday.
