I used to look at this site almost every day in 2004. It's back, keeping track of polls in Senate races:

3. Several good indicators, though...

Democrats and Republicans have traded regional bases in recent years. Basically, you can measure Republican successes by how well they do in the previously Democratic south. Also, the GOP always needs Ohio in a national election.

Now then, below the Mason-Dixon line...

Byrd will win in a landslide. No surprise there, as he is the safest Dem in the South.
Likewise, Lott will also win re-election, as one of the safest Repubs in the South.

That leaves 3 other races. Nelson, who normally would be one of the weakest Democratic candidates in the South, will win re-election in a landslide because his opponent is Katherine Harris. On the other hand, the Senate seats of George Allen and Bill Frist are up for grabs!

I'm not that optimistic about a Senate takeover right now. For me to be sure of that, I would have to see Carter and Ford leading their races. But we'll definitely gain seats this year.
