"When do the facts matter?" According to Newsweek, not on 9/11!

Sept. 7, 2006 - Former president Bill Clinton is blasting the ABC 9/11 docudrama “The Path to 9/11” for being inaccurate and unfair. You’ve got to love the irony of that. Wasn’t he the guy who hired Hollywood filmmakers to create a campaign biopic of his life? Sure, “The Path to 9/11” makes up dialogue, invents scenes and creates a composite character or two, but sometimes you have to craft the facts in a certain way to tell a complicated story. Just like sometimes you have to reconsider what the definition of “is” is when you don’t want people to know you’ve had an affair with a White House intern."

If the Reagans can survive the snarky look at their relationship posited by the mini-series “The Reagans,” certainly Clinton can survive “The Path to 9/11,” too. This isn’t a history lesson. Marc Peyser is against truth for 9/11?

As long as the lie is about people he dislikes, he's fine with it?

"Was Clinton too distracted to act? Maybe. Is it plausible to suggest that? Certainly to some people, including the filmmakers. And frankly, that should be enough."

Mr. Peyser wants the American people to accept lies masquerading as fact. Wasn't that how we got into Iraq? I take it he's fine with the lie about WMD? Fine with the lies about how easy it would be? Fine with the lie about no one guessing planes would be used to attack New York? Fine with the lie about air quality in New York City?

Is there any lie from this administration and its enablers that is NOT fine with Mr. Peyser?

His smarmy little essay pretending to defend artistic license while ignoring the propaganda function of Path to 9/11 is nauseating.

I would hope he chokes on it but the insufferably smug don't choke. They swallow.

5. Lord, God, I can't stand these people. Don't they see their hypocrisy?

6. What gets me is that people were whining last month about the movie.

"will the movie be a good thing..will it offend..does it do justice to those families who lost someone that day..."

Then ABC does a docudrama and never uses 9/11 commissioners who were democrats. They just talked to the Repukes.

As if that would help the families ... a variance of the 9/11 report with some make-believe parts that spread disinformation. All those families want is the truth so that it would be less likely to happen the same way.

8. This is ironic...

You see, I was Mark Peyser's college roommate. And this one night I came home pretty late from a frat party, and when I walked into our dorm room, I found Mark performing anal sex on what appeared to be a thirteen-year-old boy. Mark confessed that he's been a pedophile for years, and that he really enjoys snorting cocaine before sodomizing his victims. To this day, Mark will cruise junior high schools and lure young boys back to his apartment with offers of alcohol and pornography.

The preceding was, of course, not a history lesson but a fictionalized historical account. I've never met Mark Peyser in my life, but please feel free to repost the preceding paragraph on every internet bulletin board you can find. Because since Mark knows the difference between the truth and a fictionalized historical account, I'm sure he won't mind having his reputation similarly smeared.

9. Is this the corporate media circling the wagons

The difference between PT911 and the Clinton biopic is that the latter wasn't aired without commercial interuption just prior to an election.

This isn't about Clinton and his reputation. It's about network television giving a free 6 hour political ad to the Republican party.
