Concerted effort to re-write History...

It certainly seems there is a concerted effort to re-write history underway. The effort involves trying to obscure the fact Bush ignored terrorism, despite warnings, prior to 9/11 and shift the blame to President Clinton. Thus we have the Path to 9/11 and all the efforts to market/advertise/hype the program. Still, it seems to me that it goes well beyond just the show; a search for facts about what led up to 9/11 will return enormous numbers of web pages devoted to showing how aggressively Bush pursued Al-Qaeda before 9/11, and how he was saddled with a deficit of plans or capabilities owing to the implied lack of effort by President Clinton. The comprehensive nature of the arguments presented as well as the ubiquitous nature of their presence on the internet makes me wonder. Add to that the heavily biased quality of major commercial news articles either saying the same thing or presenting challenges to such arguments but providing more than equal unsubstantiated rebuttal in the same article, and the picture becomes even more suspect. Then too, many of the non-professional sites listing the false proposition share an almost surprisingly professional appearance. Could all of this be issuing forth from the remaining 30-40% hardcore Bush supporters? Is there a real desperation to grasp at any excuse. Of course, the upcoming elections provides additional motive, but the overwhelming media coverage alone should be sufficient if that was their only purpose.

Given the mass of the effort, one wonders what people in the future will find when they seek to research these times and this particular story. Will the truth have been simply overwhelmed by all these lies? I mean, will those future researchers realize how comprehensive the lies within and without the professional media are? Will they trust what they read and go with the apparent majority of what they find? Hopefully they will know how corrupt the media of these times are and maybe, just maybe, the truth will survive.
