4. It isn't just dependent on smarts

its dependent on whether reputable sources refute it and have "air time" to refute it. I tend to think in Europe it will be questioned and even refuted on air, so I agree with your implied conclusion that it will not strongly affect public opinion in Europe. :)

it's possible to have this stopped in Europe for non-respect of impartiality clauses. It applies even to the non-public service broadcasters.
