What does Katherine Harris know that Keith Olbermann doesn't?
on the KO show last week, Keith did a nice report on Katherine's "victory" in the primary and suggested she had no chance to beat Nelson in the general election. he showed a current poll something like 60-20 in favor of Nelson. You can watch the clip here:

http://www.rawstory.com/news/2006/Keith_Olbermanns_video_tribute_to_Katherine_0906.html

But she came on the show and said with confidence she will win.

What does she know that Keith doesn't?

Maybe she has some experience in thwarting the will of the people, with voter suppression and election rigging through electronic voting systems? Hmmmmmmmmmmmm. don't be surprised if she overcomes this polls with a miracle win this fall. And if she does I say it's time for Floridians to grab their pitchforks and take to the streets.

1. So that's my question . . .
Edited on Mon Sep-11-06 11:26 AM by MrModerate
If the 'Licans overplay their hand, and steal this election so brazenly that even the most credulous voter doubts the outcome, what will happen? Will people literally take to the streets? Will they march on Washington, demanding that the newly elected and newly reelected be denied their seats?

Or will they sit on their hands and grumble?

Nobody left a wake-up call.

11. Harris will lose, but the Dems will still fail to take control
of the House or Senate. Sure, they'll pick up a few seats but the GOP absolutely cannot afford to lose actual control of any part of government at this point--they've gone too far down the rabbit hole to turn back. It will be the same theme we've seen for the last six years, just refined and intensified:

-Vicious attacks that will be given play by an uncritical media.
-Poll numbers for the critical races within just a few percentage points by election day.
-Voting machine problems, registration problems, poll challenges.
-Critical votes going GOP by small margins, but mostly big enough so that recounts won't be mandated.
-Any recounts that do occur will be overseen by the voting machine companies.
-Media will brush off, ignore any allegations of foul play--unless Dems somehow take a critical race.

We have lost the Republic. Those who control the media control the country. They won. We are now a one party state.

18. Never give up. Never quit.
I just erased a very snarky response to you. I realized that maybe you have never been told that defeat is a certainty when you give up the fight.

Perhaps you are not aware that the Neocons have been playing psychological hardball for a long time now, at least over 10 years. They have done everything they can to convince you to be afraid, to trust only them, to believe they are God's choice for leadership. And failing that, they attempt to convince you that they have so much power that it is too late; the situation is hopeless.

I am absolutely serious about the next part: if you have any religious bent at all, call upon whoever or whatever you think God is to free your mind from the jail they have put it in. Free your mind from their control.

"The journey from Kamakura to Kyoto takes twelve days. If you travel for eleven but stop with only one day remaining, how can you admire the moon over the capital?"
Nichiren Daishonin, Japan, 1280 CE.

(Now just in case you are a freeper trying to convince Progressives to give up hope, please get the f*** out of DU.)

26. I'm sure glad you erased your snarky post.
Go to my blog and read through all of the archives.

Then come back and insinuate that I'm a freeper again. Until then I'll just post happy things so as not to upset anyone.

28. Sorry, did not mean to insinuate that you are a freeper
But I felt that it was a slight possibility. I would not have taken the time to address the other issues if I thought you were just some sort of lurking dream-killer with a Rapture agenda.

But I am dead serious about the mind control stuff. From their labeling games (Patriot Act, Clear Skies Initiative) to there Swiftboating and talking points (it would take an hour to list all there high level brainwashing crap) they have done their best to corrupt the perception of 30-50% of the country. For the more informed and stronger minded, they plant an insidious message that it is hopeless.

So how are you feeling now; should we give up?

5. why not
if all the votes are counted in secret why can't you steal 20 points? evidence is that Max Cleland had over 10 points stolen from him.

6. I don't know
I'd like to think the theft could not be that big, but.... if they have their people telling us in the media to not be alarmed that everything is OK and ignore the theft, what would it matter if it were so blatant? You could ask around among your friends how they voted, but would that really give you a good overall picture?

Couldn't they just say (again) that the polling was wrong, that people tried to vote without being properly registered, that at the last second everyone was afraid to vote against the War on Terra, etc. just like last time. I think many people would not question what they are told, even if they know in their guts it's wrong - for evidence of this, just look at the Iraq-9/11 "connection" or the disbelief in evolution and global warming. They know it's wrong because AUTHORITY tells them it's wrong.

7. What did you expect a candidate to say?
"My poll numbers suck and I'm probably gonna lose by double digits. Sometimes I think I should just quit the race."

Let's be realistic here.

maybe no political candidate in memory has ever said, no matter what the polls, that they will lose the election. Seriously, has that EVER happened in the history of the country?

15. Nelson would be hard to beat even with a good Repug candidate
although the steady influx of large numbers of hardcore Repug faithful into the state have managed to tip the scales of traditionally-Democratic areas into Repug strongholds. And add a little cheating at the voting stations here and there, it's hard to get rid of them completely.

My guess is that even with a good dose of vote-tampering, it wouldn't be enough to defeat Sen. Nelson although it might prevent Jim Davis from beating Charlie Crist for the governor's position.

27. Oh, This Is MY Question All The Time... She's My Representative
and I've wondered for so long now just what she might be up to! I've also wondered if she's gonna do it for the 3rd time, just how it will go down. Plus, even though I'm NO fan of Bill Nelson... what will he do?? I mean after all he kind of plays it both ways a lot!

Neither one ever answer many emails I send to them... and of course calling is a JOKE!!
