Lefties, Progressives... check in here
This election comes down to winning just a little more than we did in 2000. We need Ohio.

I'm a progressive Dean supporter that would gladly live in an America ruled by any of our Democratic candidates for President. That being said, I would gladly give my up most support to a Kerry / Kucinich 2004 Presidential ticket.

I made a few compromises when I supported Dean. Unless a race is close, I always vote my conscience. I would be able to wholeheartedly support a Kerry Kucinich ticket.

Kerry has name recognition, elect-ability, and the Dilbert factor (the best hair and tallest). Plus he usually votes with the left.

Kucinich is god.

I'd like to see the two paired up against Bush. What say you, DU?

1. I live in NEOhio and have spoken many time with Dennis,
he is the best advocate in the world, smart, a lot of fun and is a free thinker. Sad to say, not VP material.

11. I agree with you
Dennis was my congressman before I moved to Florida, and I've spoken to him many times. Dennis' problem is that he's too perfect. I talked to him in December and told him he should stay in congress, where he's much more effective. Or maybe the Senate.

I think if Dean bows out (I'm a Dean supporter) A Kerry-Edwards ticket would be virtually unbeatable. Then make Dean Chairman of the DNC!

4. I'd be fine with that
I also think it has no chance in hell. They are going to stick us with 2 centrist war supporters and tell us we have no other choice. Funny how the thugs will put up extremists and tell the moderates to get in line to attract the fringe. We do the opposite and the party move more and more to the right. It's almost worth it to let Bush back in.

7. moderate progressive here
I'm fiercely independent but will throw all my support behind the Democratic nominee. I like Dean but wish he would lay off on attacking other Democrats. Edwards' positive message is a lot more palatable.

16. Would adding DK to the Kerry ticket bring you on board?
I mean, bring you ALL the way on board, like, 'giving up beer to donate to the Kerry campaign' level on board?

I'm a (peacenic) Dean supporter, but Kerry could win me over with this...

15. Unfortunately
And thought I love Kucinich's fiscal ideas, they are impractical, and not really all that differnt than the recommendations of theCentrist Hyde Park Declarations description of the Democratic Party's goals"

http://www.ndol.org/print.cfm?contentid=1926

If you read the declaration, you find little new in it that is relatedd in Dennis Kucinich's party platform.

Regardless of Kucinich's current stance, it is less solid and consistanntly progressive as Kerry's stance, which, as in the case of all politicians in our government, in which compromise is the key factor, Kerry, and Gephardt have had the most consistant records of supporting the same philosophies for their entire pliticl career.

While I have the highest regard for Congressman Kucinich, the political record is where one must really look to itelligently select a candidate, not their campaign rhetoric. Dennis is a close match, but his social platform has some inconsistancies. Dean, the candidate does not resemble Dean the governor in any way shape or form.

Only Kerry has a historical record of consistantly attmpteing to defeat republican platforms when the democrats had more power, or weaken it when the republicans had the ascendancy.

Right nw the latest Ohio polls do not show that support among Democrats for Kucinich:

Survey USA 1/31-2/2 MoE 3.9%

Kerry 44%
Dean 15%
Edwards 13%
Kucinich 7%
Clark 6%
Sharpton 5%
Lieberman 4%
other 3%
undecided 4

http://www.dcpoliticalreport.com/CurrentPolls.htm

Though Ohio Democrts have ssent Kucinich to Congress a number of times, it looks like they want to send Kerry to the White House.

Kucinich is passionate about his beleifs, but has little of not hope of accomplishing them. It seems Kerry is viewed as someone who can defeat Bush, and accomplish the platforms that the American public seem to want addressed, in the way they want them addressed.

19. Checking in
Kucinich is my first choice, but his time at the top is yet to come. (Abraham Lincoln was defeated a few times too.) I would love to see DK paired with anyone.

Kerry does have a good Dilbert factor, and isn't it sad to say that it counts so much with so many.

20. Not a chance.. Your guys a too conservative. Edwards, Kerry, Clark are
closer to Dennis. Check out where your guys stands and you'll be shocked. He's not a lefty or a liberal. He was for a war resolution. He's for the insurances companies and against due process. He's taken contributions from Halliburton.

21. This is a fantasy.
I don't see how a DK supporter could support Kerry over the other two or three remaining anti-war candidates--but that seems to be a common mutation on this board as of late.

22. strange things are afoot
Kucinich has been likened to Rumsfeld by a DLC writer.
The primaries are being conducted as a coronation.
The news media presumes to dictate who may or may not be in debates.
IWR is being peddled as a noble effort to avoid war.

It's getting weird and thick.

23. Might I add that up is down?
It is indeed getting weird.

What is weird to me is all the posts lately berating DK supporters for not supporting Dean-- just because they both opposed the IWR.

For one thing, Kucinich is also opposed to long-term occupation of Iraq. None of the "big 4" are opposed to getting the UN in and the US out of a leadership role.

And second, his economics are much more populist than Dean's, too. Economic issues are very important to many Kcitizens-- even more so than the IWR.

NONE of the "big 4" are advocating a full-employment economy, an end to NAFTA and the WTO, cutting the bloated Pentagon budget, and universal single-payer healthcare. These issues are HUGELY important to many of us-- and that's why we're supporting DK until the end-- whenever that may be.
