Everyone who has environmental illnesses is treated this way. The reason for this is because huge corporations fear liability and have a firm grip on government and our health care system.
Every day workers are poisoned on the job and find that workers comp will not pay. In recognition of this many states have shortened their time limit for filing claims for workers comp. They are misdiagnosed for years and then find they have fallen through the cracks.
(Children are experiencing an increase in cancer and an epidemic of neurological disorders. Bush stopped the huge research project that was going to investigate the possible environmental causes for this.)
It goes like this - chemicals are inadequataely tested. Illnesses that were never tested for show up and there is no research to support the existence of the illnesses, therefore the people are MENTALLY ILL, not physically ill. Their illness cannot exist. When multiple chemicals and contaminants are present - there is no data to make a direct link for cause and effect.
On 9/11 the web page of the primary environmental health physicians society (American College of Occupational Environmental Medicine) listed the repsonse to the disaster. It instructed their memebers, corporate medical directors, on how to deal with the psychological response to the disaster. There was not one word about protecting the health of the workers. Oh yea - the medical society is staffed by corporate medical directors (protectors of corporate liability).
