7. I agree....
Ask him what Americans can do to INSIST that their elections be honest and competently administered.

Do we have to demonstrate in the streets, like they did in Mexico, before anyone will listen to us? (Give examples of voter discrepancies from Election 2000, Election 2004, and primary elections this year.)

No one is listening to us!

5. Ask him about Chavez.
Edited on Tue Sep-12-06 03:45 PM by denverbill
It seems to me like nobody, Democrat or Republican, in a position of power thinks he is anything but a dictator. Carter monitored their elections, and said they were fair. I'd like to know what he thinks of Chavez, and why he thinks nobody in either party gives Chavez anything approaching respect.

on edit: It seems to me like most American politicians dislike him, not because he is a dictator, but because he is renegotiating oil contracts and socializing oil wealth to benefit the poor.

11. Carter has given Iranians and Castro a fair hearing
I think now that he's outside the DC establishment it is kosher for him to be more frank and human about these things, and he's a great human.

6. Where has diplomacy gone and how can we get it back?
As a former pres, I'm sure he was schooled fairly quickly by the diplomatic corps on the need for averting war through diplomacy whenever possible, of maintaining friendly relations with our allies and of using strong measures just short of war when called for as a show of strength with a committment to peaceful co-existence whenever possible. It's obvious he listened.

He's a great man and has a great mind. Maybe he won't have an answer tonight, but he would be someone who might be able to think of a direction we can head in that isn't going to be mired in the same old crap.

No need to mention the bozo who shit on the Constitution and threw diplomacy out the window along with the Geneva Convention. This is a REAL President's night to see and be heard.

10. Oh well, I'm back and they didn't pick my question to ask President Carter
And Mrs. Carter wasn't even there, something about spending another day in Las Vegas with her Son Jack, who got very sick, I think President Carter actually said he was deathly ill for a while, but he getting better, some sort of intestinal thing.

But it was a good program, It'll be played on Georgia Public Radio Friday at 3:00pm EDT, here's a link for those interested: <http://www.publicradiofan.com/cgi-bin/station.pl?stationid=2896>
