Young Repukes(MI) Play Shoot the Dem Paintball/BB Guns-H Dean Protests
Edited on Tue Sep-12-06 05:13 PM by RamboLiberal
Imagine if perverted young Dems did this - the howls of outrage and protest!

Morgan Wilkins, the intern hired by the Republican National Committee to win the hearts and minds of Michigan 20-somethings, is planning events that some may find odd. To others, they may be offensive.

One such idea is "Catch an Illegal Immigrant Day," in which a volunteer would play the part of an illegal immigrant and hide somewhere on campus while others try to find him. The winner would receive a prize.

Her other ideas include an event called "Fun with Guns," in which young Republicans would use a BB gun or paintball gun to shoot cardboard cut-outs of Democratic leaders such as Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.) and Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.)

Dean slams RNC-funded 'Fun With Guns' event at university in letter to Mehlman

Ron Brynaert
Published: Tuesday September 12, 2006

Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean wrote Republican National Committee Chairman Ken Mehlman today "calling on him to stop RNC-funded campaign activities that promote discrimination and endorse violence against political opponents," according to a DNC press release received by RAW STORY.

Dean's letter was written in response to an article published in the Michigan Daily about an "intern hired by the Republican National Committee to win the hearts and minds of Michigan 20-somethings" at Michigan University.

Events planned by the intern, Morgan Wilkins, include "an event called Fun with Guns, in which young Republicans would use a BB gun or paintball gun to shoot cardboard cut-outs of Democratic leaders such as Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.) and Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.)" and "Catch an Illegal Immigrant Day, in which a volunteer would play the part of an illegal immigrant and hide somewhere on campus while others try to find him."

In April, Penn State University College Republicans dropped plans to hold a Catch an Illegal Immigrant Game after a student outcry "ensued," but other colleges such as the University of North Texas have held such events.

13. Great idea - have students playing recruiters with enlistment
papers try to catch the war-support spouting chickenhawk who then spouts all the Repuke drivel why they personally can't enlist.

In interviews, more than a dozen conventiongoers explained why it is important that they stay on campus while other, less fortunate people their age wage a bloody war in Iraq. They strongly support the war, they told me, but they also want to enjoy college life and pursue interesting careers. Being a College Republican allows them to do both. It is warfare by other, much safer means.

I chatted for a while with Collin Kelley, a senior at Washington State with a vague resemblance to the studly actor Orlando Bloom. Kelley told me he’s “sick and tired of people saying our troops are dying in vain” and added, “This isn’t an invasion of Iraq, it’s a liberation--as David Horowitz said.” When I asked him why he was staying on campus rather than fighting the good fight, he rubbed his shoulder and described a nagging football injury from high school. Plus, his parents didn’t want him to go. “They’re old hippies,” Kelley said.

Munching on a chicken quesadilla at a table nearby was Edward Hauser, a senior at St. Edwards University in Austin, Texas--a liberal school in a liberal town in the ultimate red state of Texas. “Austin is ninety square miles insulated from reality,” Hauser said. When I broached the issue of Iraq, he replied, “I support our country. I support our troops.” So why isn’t he there? “I know that I’m going to be better staying here and working to convince people why we’re there ,” Hauser explained, pausing in thought. “I’m a fighter, but with words.” These sad, pathetic statements can even be found in the mouths of people attending my alma mater:

By the time I encountered Cory Bray, a towering senior from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business, the beer was flowing freely. “The people opposed to the war aren’t putting their asses on the line,” Bray boomed from beside the bar. Then why isn’t he putting his ass on the line? “I’m not putting my ass on the line because I had the opportunity to go to the number-one business school in the country,” he declared, his voice rising in defensive anger, “and I wasn’t going to pass that up.”

And then there was the response from a parent in a well-to-do suburb of Pittsburgh, "our kind of people" don't enlist in the Marines.

18. Anyone think violence is just under the surface in this country?
When will things start coming apart pitting Americans against Americans? 24 hour lies and hatred spewed by the right at some time could spell disaster.

23. It's inevitable
When you look carefully at things like voter suppression, intimidation, and invalidation, and the open call to violence by most of the hate radio mavens, you relize that there is no way this will end peacefully. If we don't take care of it ourselves, we will end up like Germany did in 1944.

24. Draft College Republicans!
IF they can shoot a bb gun then they're fit for combat duty. They all can be part of a new special unit called the chickenhawks, with brown pants as part of their uniform so noone knows they've crapped themselves.
