Poll question: A Dem President. In the tradition of T. Snow, who's Press Sec'y? (poll)
Edited on Wed Sep-13-06 08:54 AM by BleedingHeartPatriot
Turning to those "librul" airways, what media luminary could be a Dem's spokesperson?

As I compiled this list, I realized that it's not as far fetched a concept as I first thought.

These guys would be such a huge improvement! MKJ

(SNL Tweety) Come on, say something crazy Al.

On Edit: I know Al is not part of the media, but come on, wouldn't that be sweet ?

Cheers

7. Mike Malloy. He'll probably have been hired, fired and
looking for work again by then.

Seriously, though, any Dem president needs to hire the smoothest-talking PR weasel available just for self-preservation.

8. Sorry ..... none of them
They're all, more or less, entertainers or pundits.

We need a party-identified spokesperson.

Mario Cuomo. We have NO better speaker in the party today. He's an intellectual who is a genius-level maestro of words, a master debater, a master of subtle, pointed, spot-on understatement. No hyperbole, no histrionics. Just gravitas.

And he has almost no current baggage.

11. OK, now you had to get all serious and everything.
Edited on Wed Sep-13-06 09:22 AM by BleedingHeartPatriot
Honestly, I started this as sort of a joke about putting a "media personality" in front of the press corps.

Then, I started realizing that they'd be soooo much better than what we're enduring from Snow and became less sardonic and more smitten.

I love the idea of Mario Cuomo. He would return dignity and intelligence to the position.

13. None of the above. The example of Tony Snow would be ignored
and there would be a press secretary who was not a prominent media personality in his own right.

14. I know. I really muffed the attempt at "whimsy". Mainly, because,
Edited on Wed Sep-13-06 09:41 AM by BleedingHeartPatriot
as I put the list together, none of them, with the exception of creative curmudgeon Michael Moore :-), seemed as inappropriate as Snow.

MM is terrific, but he's not Press Secretary material. Although, he'd be really entertaining.

It was supposed to be fun, not serious. Really. :hi: MKJ

15. In the tradition of Tony Snow,
We'd have to get someone intensely stupid.

Kid Rock, maybe? I don't know his political affiliation. It's hard to think of a Democrat as stupid as Tony Snow.

17. Stephen Colbert....
...Picture every critisism of the President being vehemently agreed with and then ridiculed with that unique Colbert reverse psychology/stealth magic that leads to logical impasses and WTF moments of political clarity.....and think of the TV ratings!!!
