The Republican Party today is like a CULT
Edited on Wed Sep-13-06 12:19 PM by Sugarcoated
Sidney Blumenthal on Franken's show compares Bush to a cult leader and, no matter how much evidence, facts, proof, official reports many in the Republican party still believe him! Blumenthal is explaining this horrific mess of a government so well, so well. I'm going to listen to this again later with pencil and paper.

Edited for a HTML correction.

1. It is totally a cult.
Just like Jim Jones's People's Temple. And we know how that turned out.

from most conservatives is "the democrats are not any better" that's why I keep voting republican.

That's a great attitude. They sound like nihilists. Or they sound like football fans. My team is better than your team bullshit.

9. Political Cults are exceptionally dangerous.
Although some cults result in death and destruction, this Bush Cult is actually leading to massive death and destruction involving the whole world.

10. The bull-goose loonies were calling Cspan this morning
very disturbing, coming out with unbelievably ignorant, head shaking stuff.

My brother is a Republican, my other brother is starting to lean conservative. One just cares about national security, nothing else, so he votes Republican like it's his hometeam or something. The other just, I don't know, though he wouldn't vote for Bush in '04 (wrote in a candidate) and is gung-ho for Guliani, he's absorbing this shit they spew.

People just don't understand, 99% of it is think-tank BS stats and reports, it's diversion from what they're really doing, robbing us blind. It's so frustrating. My father-in-law, one of the most intelligent, well read, down to earth blue collar men, said for years 'Republican's want to get rid of the middle class', I took it with a grain of salt, didn't really believe it. But, goddamn if they really ARE! It's not a tin-foil thing. administration really and truly wants to eradicate the middle class.

THOSE EVIL GREEDY FUCKERS

16. The Republican Party is like a Cult?
I'm not so sure of this. As we saw during the primary in NH last night....the Republicans don't even want to vote for their own candidates!

I didn't say all Republican's. There are some good Republican people out there, but for so many facts & evidence just don't penetrate. That describes cultists.

18. Another difference between a conservative and a neocon
Edited on Wed Sep-13-06 03:30 PM by YOY
The main one being that one prefers personal attacks, groupthink/jingoism, and using straight out lies as opposed to reasonable debate.
