Frist lauds Gitmo's state: He says conditions good; others say indefinite lockup cruel

WASHINGTON - Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, R-Tenn., said Tuesday his recent trip to the Guantanamo Bay detainee camp showed excellent prison conditions, including "24/7 medical care - better than many Americans" get.

Nevertheless, Frist, a former physician, said that the Senate must authorize military commissions to prosecute the alleged terrorists at Guantanamo in Cuba and elsewhere for "war crimes." He visited the prison with two other senators Sunday to prepare for Senate debate on legislation to legalize the commissions after a U.S. Supreme Court decision in June said they lacked congressional approval.

The senators at Guantanamo were briefed on prison conditions, medical care, food and exercise, access to attorneys and the opportunity of Muslims to practice their religion.

Frist said many detainees are getting dental care for the first time from a health staff with a ratio of 1 to every 4 prisoners.

6. "a former physician" ?
So, all the uninsured and underinsured in the US should get detained at Gitmo for health care reasons? Could those who are employed but lacking decent health insurance, like, telecommute from Gitmo? Is his rug made from cat hair? This is one seriously f*cked up person who has a history of profiteering off of human suffering.Another heinous and dishonest thing Frist has done. Think that has made him go a little craxy? A bit? 200 million shuts that down quick and in a hurry?

7. I'd heard about the cat thing for years but... Is that a direct quote?
I've never read it and am hoping it's been "modified".

9. You have my word, it is a direct quote, not modified.
When I did the graphic I Googled around for the quote. I do not recall the source (VERY possible it was the Boston Globe), but that quote is directly from Frist's book. That's why I made the graphic "straight," with a photo from Frist's Web Site, no funny stuff.

This is one sick Mo Fo, my friend.

I guess a videotape of the camp wasn't good enough.
