50-50 Senate Projected ...

and for the first time we are up to 50 projected seats in the senate? Can that be correct, they are now leaning towards giving us Tennessee ... can it get better? Just One more ... :)

I was very surprised when the local news said Lieberman was ahead. There's no info on their web site, so I'm really hoping they were citing an old poll. They were reporting on yesterday's NY primaries and they commented on Lieberman at the end of the story. Unfortunately, I was busy with something else, so I didn't get the numbers - I just heard the part about Lieberman being ahead.

I'm afraid there's still a very good chance he'll win, by hanging on to enough Dem supporters while gathering all the Republicans and many independents.

Lamont's coming across as sort of namby-pamby. We need to see much more of him, and he needs to be much more strong -- gravitas is lacking, I think.

I'm sick of Lieberman, and I think his behavior, particularly following the primary, has been nothing but shameful. But it's still a good bet that he pulls this out. And then holds the Dems hostage.

I've been calling six or seven Senate seats for some number of weeks. Now, it is looking increasingly likely. I'm with ya, buddy.

Lieberman is a more difficult one. No telling what's gonna happen there. We'll know in two-three weeks, I expect.

ON EDIT: Well ... there's nothing on the web site. I know I heard them say Lieberman had a big lead. They were reporting on yesterday's NY primaries and did a quick comment on the Connecticut Senate race. I was cooking dinner and I had the television on. I heard the bit about Lieberman and stopped to listen more closely to the details, but it was already over. :-(

Since they don't have any info on their web site, do you think it's possible they were citing an old poll?

EDIT #2: Here's some more info for whatever it's worth ...

My mother was in the room and also heard the report about Lieberman. She said the report had Lieberman at "50-something" and Lamont at "30-something" and the "other guy" had a single digit percentage. (Hey ... I know it's not much, but she had more details than I did, LOL!)

I did a Google and the only recent poll I found with anything close to those numbers was this one:

Lieberman 51%
Lamont 38%
Schlesinger 7%

Is "Survey USA" a legitimate poll? :shrug:

I just don't see them giving up TN, VA and RI right now. Anything could happen but we all know polls mean nothing at this point. The fear smear campaign hasn't even geared up yet. It will be something like 52-48 if you count Lieberman sticking with us. 2008 may have some hope to it if you don't have some polarizing figure like Senator H. Clinton in the president race producing the largest GOP turnout in history killing any chance of a red state democrat getting elected.

And...I know it's a long way out....but how many Republican seats in 08' could be potentially vulnerable? Taking the senate would be great this year, but it's not as easy as the House since only 1/3 are up for election. If we at least make some headway this time around, a popular Democratic presidential nominee's coattails could help put us over the top next time.

In all that I have read here one race has not been mentioned. It is Jack Carter running against Ensign. "An August 28th Zogby/WSJ poll shows Ensign with a 48% to 45% lead over Carter, which is within the margin of error." While I am not predicting anything here I expect that the former president will do all he can to help his son, so let's keep an eye on this one too!
