Matthews and Two Ops (Dem&Repug) Pushing that "Unity '08" Party Again!

I posted about this here a few days ago. This New Meme going out for a Third Party "Unity 08" and tonight Tweety had two "Political Ops" who've written some book about "Applebee Politics" together who signed off with a "wink, wink and nod" to Tweety's Question: "Do you think there will be a Third Party for '08...something that comes right down the middle like Ross Perot?" (paraphrase) And BOTH the "Ops" did the "winkers."

So...who will this "Unity Party" pick as it's candidates?

BTW the Dem Op was dreadful...I tried to get his name but wasn't quick enough. Is there some Damned Conspiracy to get the weakest Dem Spokespersons on the Pundit shows? FGS!!!! We've had since 1994 to get Great Spokespersons for Dem Principles and we get Lanny Davis, Donna Brazille and lately an assortment of "spokespersons" that this Dem has never heard from and they all seem NOT TO BE DEMS...but sort of illiterate Repug Crossovers calling themselves Dems!

Anyway...if you want to be concerned...read this post and the replies so you get the "background" of this "Unity Party" thing. It's started by Carter people but seems to be backed by Repug Ops who just love Giuliani and McCain.

1. Hell if the GOP fights the neo-cons, America would win

even if it was under a McCain / Powell or Pataki / Guliani banner. I just don't want another neo-con, republican or democrat.

2. This might be an honest effort to break the deadlock between Partisans

...but I see it as another effort to "CONTROL" the MASSIVE BREAKDOWN of our Constitution under the onslaught of the Bushofascists. And, I don't like the "media's pushing of this" given that the Media allowed the BUSHOFASCISTS to RUN RAMPANT for decades...bringing down two Presidents ..Carter and Clinton who were Dems and covering up every Repug evil doer scandal from BCCI/Iran-Contra/Savings & Loan/Invasions of Haiti and Panama/Nicaragua/Iraq Invasions I & II and all the other stuff that we know but is too long to list.

Only Dem achievement was getting Nixon out! And, that was with MUCHO HELP from "Old School" Repugs who still believed in the CONSTITUTION.

Still...as angry as I am with my own Dems ...I worry about who will influence this "Unity 08" Party.

Is this an effort to keep Al Gore from running? Is it a way to "maintain stability" of government and thwart any investigation of the WHOLE BUSH ADMIN for WAR CRIMES/NEPOTISM/CORRUPTION/CRONYISM/CRIMES AGAINST HUMANITY/STOCK MARKET FRAUD AND ABUSE/ABUSE OF CONSTITUTION, LAWS, CONGRESS!

I am very worried about this "Unity '08" because it would appeal to the C-Span callers who are starting to worry about Bush but are too ill informed and used to acting on "Talking Points" from the RNC to even question how they are being used again. Take that to the rest of us who
know the Repugs are Bushofascists and the Dems who have an ineffectual leadership...and you get a MASS MOVEMENT for another "Coalition Party" that will be no better and far WORSE than what we've dealth with.

We Dems need to get our own "act together" before we start running after some "Unity Party" which would be destructive giving the same powers now in danger of being in legal trouble a chance to cash in on weakness of Dems.

It's just too inticing to ignore...and many Dems would sign on to it. But, this "Populist Dem" is as afraid of this as I am of the Bushies because it means that NOTHING WILL BE CLEANED OUT!!!

3. My take on it

It sounds all nice and civilized but I think the GOP is really afraid of losing the House and the Senate and want to keep their finger in the power pie any way they can.

So they pretend to play nice and talk of Unity but what they really want is to retain control.

A McCain presidency would look pretty much like a Bush presidency. And Unity or not it would still be a Repug presidency.

how will "Unity 08" move forward if it really seeks to "Preserve the Status Quo" from any investigations that would be very "distressful" {in their opinion) to the "People." At least they would consider it "distressful" ..when in fact we need a MASSIVE CLEANOUT of this ROT that's infested our Government.

5. Well, God knows

I'm sick of the poisonous atmosphere in Washington. I grew up in the 50s and while I really don't remember too much of the politics I have read that Dems and Repubs worked together and at the end of the day went out for a beer and had some spirit of congeniality. It's all nasty now.

So a call to end all of that nastiness has an appeal. At the end of the day we should all want good, effective government. But before I sign on to any of the Unity stuff, I'd like to see some attempt to have a bit of Unity RIGHT NOW. WIth the Repugs being out and out blatant on how they are going to use their money to trash the personal and professional reputations of Democrats in the next few weeks, why the fuck should I believe that they will suddenly change their tune in 08.

Bullshit. If the Dems don't retake the HOuse or Senate, watch how quick all this Unity talk disappears.

Chris Matthews, Norah O'Donnell, and one other hack are gloating over an upward trend for Republicans.; They are all cheerfully predicting Republicans keeping both House and Senate.

It is going to take every effort and guerilla tactic the democrats can muster to fight back. One thing we can't do is be complacent. Ed Schultz asked Kerry if he was confident about 2006 success yesterday and he said "NO" without missing a beat. The season is just starting and we have to really kick ass to keep up with them. The Vetpac.org ad against George Allen this week was a good start

9. Lanny Davis on Lou Dobbs 9/14

Davis and Dobbs were drooling over the same prospect this evening: A Unity Government. Sorry, this smacks of an America getting fucked over by some new generation of the third way. We all know how that works: progressive agenda gets the talk and radical right gets the action. In corporate America that's how compromise works. Health care: let's privatize, Social Security: let's privatize, Education: let's privatize.

Hearing Lanny Davis, a supposed "D" who now is serving on some bush committee, carrying on about how great this would be, is sickening. The idea implies that Democrats are currently obstructing a some fabulous right wing agenda. Not true.

We need people in Washington who are actually interested in doing what is right for America. Getting rid of the regressive right will take us a long way toward that goal. Will not get rid of right-wing power grabs with this idea; we will on legitimatize them.

Your post sounds like it really is a MSM THINGY pushed by "Powers out there" who are trying to build on voters disenfranchisement with Both Parties...Was it 29% of Voter who don't like Congress in the latest poll Tweety was spouting? What Tweety failed to say is that many Americans blame Congress not realizing that both branches are and have been controlled by REPUGS for well over a Decade. Media doesn't want to point that one out...do they?

11. Davis is promoting a new book

Lanny Davis, How "Gottcha" Politics is Destroying America is his new book. Mostly the book is a call for an end to personal attacks. The two, Dobbs and Davis, seemed to agree that a "Unity Gov." would be a solution to this. BTW, the cabinet would also be divided.

Two things come to mind; one reality based and one draped in tin foil. First, as I said, to contemplate this idea reinforces the meme that both parties are equally guilty, and that their ideas are also inter-changable. Well, there are certainly some Dems with very corporate interests, but then again, this move would dump on the very best representatives Americans have including Boxer & Conyers. Who would be supporting them?

The second thought goes back to 1999 Bilderberg(sp) conference. Among the elite gathering then, it was openly discussed that the US would be better if it had one party. I don't look good in tin foil, and wouldn't even mention this reported philosophy, except that it is increasingly rearing its head.

Now I ask you: would the New Deal been instituted under a Unity Gov? Next question: would NAFTA been passed? My answers are 1=No and 2=Yes.

BTW, Lanny Davis on the Koppel show was the worst Dem spokesperson on the evening. He rambled on about how republicans want to protect civil liberties just as much as Dems. Next week he'll start out on his new 50 state bridge-selling tour.
