NEW YORK -- The New York Times' legendary bestseller lists, whose influence in the book community is unmatched, have expanded once again to a new category: politics. But as with many political-related newspaper offerings these days, this list is strictly Web-only.

You won’t find the new politics bestseller tally in the print edition of Sunday's New York Times Book Review. The line-up is only being posted on the Web site's book section, along with the paper's other bestseller lists.

The political bestseller list was created along with the Times' new political blog, "The Caucus," which launched earlier this month, according to Kate Phillips, who oversees the blog. The bestseller choices are based on the same formula as the paper's other book lists, and compiled by Times Bestseller List Editor Deborah Hofman....

The first politics book list was posted on Sept. 7, with Patrick J. Buchanan's "State of Emergency" (Thomas Dunne/St. Martin's Press) leading the group. Others in the list include:

1. As Someone who reads Political Non-Fiction, I can tell you

don't waste your time on "The World Is Flat" by Tom Friedman. Just because he writes for the NYT, doesn't mean you'll like this. Trust me. Ugh.

3. I say, fuck that construct, to be frank. NYT is reaching, reaching,

and reaching some more, trying to be "hip" and "with it" so they can stay "relevant." Good grief.

What new subcategories can we come up with, so authors other than that beast Coulter can claim to be number SIX this week?

How about Children's Books that Adults Read? The Harry Potter franchise will be right out front, followed by those asinine political screeds about evil Liberals Under the Bed/Why Mommy is a Democrat that should be hidden from innocent children's eyes.

And the Shi'a revival volume could be crossposted under a RELIGION top ten, along with that piece of trash GODLESS. TAKE THIS JOB AND SHIP IT could be listed under Top Ten Economic tomes, too...

Fiction/Nonfiction...good enough for me!! Only problem is, Coulter's shit is misfiled, seeing as it is pure fiction...or plagiarized, at the least....
