Impeach the Felon! Impeach him NOW! Otherwise, I want to know
how to retroactively change the laws that I would like to break. I just heard that he's committed 30 felonies in the NSA scandal and now the bonehead is trying to alter the Geneva rules so that he can avoid being prosecuted for those crimes...sure seems like "high crimes and misdemeanors" to me! Oh wait, it was all about "the rule of law" when we were talking about where the 1st penis went, and what it did and how it did it - to the tune of, what $100 Mil in taxpayer money for investigations and hearings - but now it's not about the "rule of law" or the fact that * "lied." What hooey!

1. I think he knows it's coming to 'high crimes and misdemeanors'.
And it's about damned time. The Red Cross is about to come out with a scathing report on treatment of new Gitmo prisoners, proving dimson's culpability.

I can only see resignation or impeachment as an option, though a trip to the Hague would be preferable.

4. I too would certainly like to see him at the Hague and/or
executed for his heinous crimes. I believe that impeachment is happening now.

I wonder if he's being sacrificed by the veep and the puppet-masters? It seems like they are hanging him out like raw meat for the lions.

heard of it. He indicated 'soon'.

13. Turley said it. He said within a couple days and that they
would probably state that the prisoners had been tortured with waterboarding. He said that would clearly make Bush and Co International and national war criminals and thus he was rushing for the retroactive "fix"

17. Yeah. Turley is always illuminating. He said the Red Cross either did
or is about to interview the 14 guys who just were moved to Gitmo from the secret prisons in parts unknown, and that it's suspected the Red Cross will report that these guys will have said they were waterboarded. Which constitutes torture. I think bush is in such a frenzy about this because he does indeed see that if he doesn't get the laws retroactively "modified" to give him cover, he IS INDEED in the crosshairs for war criminal status in this regard. BUT, Turley also pointed out that - ASIDE from just this, bush is also facing some THIRTY - repeat - THIRTY other felony charges in connection with the NSA wiretapping scandal. THIRTY other felonies.

CAN WE IMPEACH THIS SHITHEAD NOW????

Unbelievable. UNBELIEVABLE!!!

10. There is a very disturbing reluctance in the Congressional Dems
to pursue the sensible, moral and right path of impeachment. It's very hard for me to figure out. There are a brave few who are pursuing it, like Conyers, but there is no "closing of ranks" on this vitally important issue.

Tell me, all nit picking aside - after all that yuo've seen the last few days with the war crimes of this president closing in on him, why in the world wouldnt we pursue our constitutionally mandated process of impeaching and removing those who abuse executive power?

26. why is it hard to figure out?
The Republicans control the House. They control the Senate. There is no way the Democrats get any movement on an impeacchment effort at this point. And, notwithstanding the sentiment here, the public in general isn't clamoring for it. Starting what would be depicted as a partisan impeachment effort before the November elections would blow up badly in the Democrats faces. Here are just two quotes you'd see plastered all over the newspapers and airwaves in ads run by the repubs against any Democrat advocating impeachment:

"Let us resolve to learn the lessons of this long, sad year. Let us learn now, having come this far, the wisdom of the founders that impeachment is and must be a high barricade, not to be mounted lightly. Let us learn that because it requires the overwhelming support of the Senate to succeed, it cannot and should not proceed on a merely partisan basis. Let us learn that the desire to impeach and remove must be shared broadly, or it is illegitimate."

Statement of Senator Paul Wellstone, February 12, 1999

"I see the 4-year term as a unifying force of our Nation. Yet, this is the second time in my adult lifetime that we have had serious impeachment proceedings, and I am only 45 years old. This only occurred once in the entire 200 years prior to this time. Is this a fluke? Is it that we just happened to have had two `bad men' as Presidents? I doubt it. How will we feel if sometime in the next 10 years a third impeachment proceeding occurs in this country so we will have had three within 40 years? I see a danger in this in an increasingly diverse country. I see a danger in this in an increasingly divided country. And I see a danger in this when the final argument of the House manager is that this is a chapter in an ongoing `culture war' in this Nation. That troubles me. I hope that is not where we are and hope that is not where we are heading. It is best not to err at all in this case. But if we must err, let us err on the side of avoiding these divisions, and let us err on the side of respecting the will of the people.

"Let me conclude by quoting James W. Grimes, one of the seven Republican Senators who voted not to acquit Andrew Johnson. I discovered this speech, and found out that the Chief Justice had already discovered and quoted him, and said he was one of the three of the ablest of the seven. Grimes said this in his opinion about why he wouldn't convict President Johnson:

"I cannot agree to destroy the harmonious working of the Constitution for the sake of getting rid of an unacceptable President. Whatever may be my opinion of the incumbent, I cannot consent to trifle with the high office he holds. I can do nothing which, by implication, may be construed as an approval of impeachment as a part of future political machinery."

Statement of Senator Russ Feingold, February 12, 1999

really important shit (High Crimes: more important than fake wars) and really small stupid shit (Misdemeanors: lying about your penis)?

edit: Bush obviously doesn't fit any of those two categories, thus...free to go.

19. Don't wait for your legislature to Impeach, Do it yourself.
Impeach Bush yourself! No Joke.
This is much more than just a petition.

There's a little known and rarely used clause of the "Jefferson Manual" in the rules for the House of Representatives which sets forth the various ways in which a president can be impeached. Only the House Judiciary Committee puts together the Articles of Impeachment, but before that happens, someone has to initiate the process.

That's where we come in. In addition to the State-by-State method, one of the ways to get impeachment going is for individual citizens like you and me to submit a memorial. ImpeachforPeace.org has created a new memorial based on one which was successful in impeaching a federal official in the past. You can find it on their website as a PDF.

STOP WAITING FOR YOUR MEMBERS OF CONGRESS TO ACT FOR YOU.

You can initiate the impeachment process yourself by downloading the memorial, filling in the relevant information in the blanks (your name, state, etc.), and sending it in.

27. If you're right, why hasn't it happened?
Maybe because individuals can't really "initiate" the impeachment process all by themselves. It takes a member of Congress to present a memorial to the body. And if no member is willing to introduce an impeachment resolution on their own motion, why in the world does anyone think a member is going to take a letter or email (or even a thousand letters or emails) and present them.

It still takes a member of Congress to stand up, and the process will still have to go through the Judiciary Committe, where it will simply disappear so long as the repubs control the House.
