Should DU disassociate itself from Google because of GOP ties?
Edited on Fri Sep-15-06 11:51 PM by Armstead
It's distressing that Google has decided to get into bed with the GOP.

If this is true, Should progressive websites disaffiliate themselves from carrying Google ads -- and let Google know why?

How about it DU? Any merit in this?

2. *** ABSOLUTELY, 100% NOT ****

First of all, Google associated themselves with extreme rightwingers like Dan Senor and others a couple of years ago. (btw, Senor never wound up accepting the position .. but they still sought out another GOP'er)

Despite getting assistance from the other side of the aisle -- they never donated one single cent to the ReTHUG party. Not a cent. Yet they continued to heavily support Democrats.

And secondly ---

Saying that DU should "Boycott Google" would be 100% exactly the same thing as the low-life Freepers did!!

Yes, they had a lengthy thread over at their hell hole about a year ago and had all the cockroach freepnoids signing some lame pact swearing they'd use Dogpile and other search engines.

It's childish and NO we shouldn't resort to freeperisms.

Even if they seek the help of the other side for purposes that none of us know -- they are still a BLUE company in a very, very blue area.

What I think Google is ------- is very, very shrewd. If they want to use the GOP for their inside advantage, yet still support only Democrats --- have at it Google!

NO!

4. I don;t think sites dedicated to Democratic causes....
...should be supporting Google if Google is funneling money to GOP politicians to beat Democrats. After all, that means sites that carry Google ads atre also helping to beat Democrats.

If Freepers feel the same way in reverse, that's their right. I wouldn't blame them for getting hot and bothered at a company that donates to Democrats.

Corporations ought to stay the hell out of politics anyway.
