and his law-breaking? First of all, we know the opposition would call it "politics" as usual with the Democrats? However, there are some very, very serious issues that need addressing immediately when and if the Democrats win back the Congress.
The first step is to explain to the American people how the Republican Congress did not do their job of oversight and were nothing more than a rubberstamp for a radical and lawless Executive Branch. The Republicans have a lot of explainin' to do.
The next step is to investigate and find out what other crimes or secret operations are going on that the Congress does not know about. Subpoena witnesses and put people under oath. But where to start?
Do they call former CIA Director George Tenet to testify about what he knows about the secret prisons, etc? Then call Negroponte, to find out under oath if any other "illegal" activities are presently going on? Then call that former Congressman from Florida that was CIA Director for a while? How soon we forget the names when they go into hiding?
The third step is to prevent further erosion of our Constitution and further lawlessness by this Administration. Every member of the Intelligence Committee should be informed of new operations by this White House. It is easy to tell a few close puppets and pretend that the Congress "has been informed". That practice should cease immediately.
The final step would be to impeach George Bush if what we suspect is true is actually true. We cannot permit the President of the United States to be above the law. If anyone should obey the laws, it should be the President of the United States. Spying on American citizens, intentional lying us into a war, breaking the rules of the Geneva Convention and the UCMJ, operating secret prisons beyond the knowledge of Congress, and false imprisonment of detainees without charges and without recourse to a judicial hearing.....and the list goes on.
