Makes me sick. This seems to be the GOP's (and DLC's) top priority-- pass idiotic bankruptcy laws to attack people with bouts of misfortune and to "stick it to the little guy" as much as possible, then siphon off already dwindling wealth from the poor and middle class, and grant corporate welfare and impunity for their big-money cronies. Wow, such a role model they've turned this country into.

2. Considering the sweetheart bonuses and golden parachutes
given to Ford's other executives, I'll bet the multiple is equivalent to something like 2-3,000 Ford workers, at least. I guess they have their "priorities" straight-- too bad the Rethug economy seems expressly designed to squeeze the poor and middle-class ever more aggressively. Robin Hood in reverse.

3. I don't agree with it, but under current market conditions that is
the going rate for a good CEO. My company just did the same thing. Not as much, but we don't have as many problems as Ford.

Companies are at the mercy of what the market demands. It seems unfair - but so is life and this is the environment that we live in.

5. Shouldnt a CEO's salary be based
on the performance of the company? I realize most are not, but they should be.

7. Absolutely - but the problem is that when companies are looking
for new direction and fresh ideas - they want "new blood". In order to get the right person, companies have to pay out the butt for someone who may or may not succeed in leading the company in a new direction. That requires going to another big company that is successful and stealing their executives.

We had a VP who we paid an obscene amount to get, only to fire him a year later. The opinion was - we didn't get what we paid for.

6. Maybe we should start outsourcing CEO jobs to India.
Or hire illegal immigrants as CEO.

They couldn't run a company into the ground faster than these overpaid, self-important frauds.
