Kerry Accuses Bush Of Abandoning Bin Laden Hunt

Senator To Tailgate At Cy-Hawk Game

POSTED: 11:18 am CDT September 16, 2006
UPDATED: 12:50 pm CDT September 16, 2006

INDIANOLA, Iowa -- Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry is accusing President George W. Bush of abandoning the hunt for Osama bin Laden and deceiving Americans about the war in Iraq.

Kerry, who spoke Friday in Indianola, said Bush has tried to shut down the CIA unit that was hunting bin Laden but the Senate voted to keep it going.

Earlier in the day Bush said the hunt will continue until bin Laden is captured.

But Kerry questions why an overwhelming majority of American troops are in Iraq instead of Afghanistan, where bin Laden and other terrorists had trained.

Kerry, the 2004 Democratic presidential nominee, said he is considering another run at the White House in 2008. He said voters have seen the Bush administration lead a sluggish response to the Hurricane Katrina destruction and persist with an increasingly unpopular war in Iraq.

Kerry will spend Saturday tailgating at the University of Iowa-Iowa State University football game in Iowa City and will travel to Waterloo for a fundraiser.

1. How can one "accuse" Shrubbie of that? is this just media spin?
Pointing out a fact is now "accusing"? Telling the obvious and undebatable truth is an "accusation"?

I call bullshit.

3. Also, where in this country could Bush have an open gathering
like this - walking freely, smiling and greeting unscreened people.

On September 9th, I saw Kerry engulfed by people in the heart of Boston - and it looked like these pictures.

4. From last Saturday
It still amazes me that people were following him down the street. Of course, I'm from Pennsylvania. We don't have senators who would inspire folks to (literally or figuratively) follow them.

There couldn't possibly be that many Democrats, let alone Iowans, who are happy to see John Kerry. Not to hear DU tell it anyway.

10. Dems need to run an add on how Bush/Republicans have changed
their tune on "capturing those responisible for the attacks on America."

Contrast his "bullhorn moment" with his "I am not that concerned about him" and we've taken a step in the right direction.
