So...RW Pundit Kate O'Beirne Wife of Pentagon CPA Procurer Crook!
Edited on Sun Sep-17-06 12:21 PM by KoKo01
Quote from Digby Blog about this:
(Jim O'Beirne, by the way, is the husband of wingnut welfare queen Kate O'Beirne, naturally. There's never more than one degree of separation between these taxpayer scam artists)

Ties to GOP Trumped Know-How Among Staff Sent to Rebuild Iraq
Early U.S. Missteps in the Green Zone

By Rajiv Chandrasekaran
Washington Post Staff Writer
Sunday, September 17, 2006; A01

After the fall of Saddam Hussein's government in April 2003, the opportunity to participate in the U.S.-led effort to reconstruct Iraq attracted all manner of Americans -- restless professionals, Arabic-speaking academics, development specialists and war-zone adventurers. But before they could go to Baghdad, they had to get past Jim O'Beirne's office in the Pentagon.

To pass muster with O'Beirne, a political appointee who screens prospective political appointees for Defense Department posts, applicants didn't need to be experts in the Middle East or in post-conflict reconstruction. What they needed to be was a member of the Republican Party.

O'Beirne's staff posed blunt questions about domestic politics: Did you vote for George W. Bush in 2000? Do you support the way the president is fighting the war on terror? Two people who sought jobs with the U.S. occupation authority said they were even asked their views on Roe v. Wade .

Many of those chosen by O'Beirne's office to work for the Coalition Provisional Authority, which ran Iraq's government from April 2003 to June 2004, lacked vital skills and experience. A 24-year-old who had never worked in finance -- but had applied for a White House job -- was sent to reopen Baghdad's stock exchange. The daughter of a prominent neoconservative commentator and a recent graduate from an evangelical university for home-schooled children were tapped to manage Iraq's $13 billion budget, even though they didn't have a background in accounting.

1. I didn't think Kate's credibility could sink lower
Her husband is nothing but a partisan neocon scumbag, and an incredibly incompetant one at that! What a bunch of freeloaders getting paid for no productivity at taxpayers expense. May they all get hit by a bus.

4. Done - Thanks for the address.
This article is disgusting and sad.

No one in Washington (press or congress) is asking where our money is going.

6. Un FUCKING believable. I've done a lot of head shaking the past six
years, but on sooooooooo many levels, this takes the cake.

Then we have crapped crusader Joe DeGenova and his wife, that harpie Victoria Toensing.

7. So...who will to a "Time Chart" with "connections" to the Genaeology of
Washington Press Corps PLUS NYT's and WaPo to figure out how many "Reporters/Columnists and their Ilk are related to each other through Marriage, Birth or Family Connections.

I'll bet most of us would be HORRIFIED at the results!

Anyone want to RENT/Netflix the WHOLE "Godfather" series to figure out how "THE FAMILY" relates to what we are all going through today with our MEDIA?

We all thought the "Godfather" was some leftover 20th Century Fantasy...but, in my mind, it MORPHED TO DC with Abramoff/K-Street and the GOP MACHINE that just managed to intrigue in a FEW Dems into the CRIME FAMILY of BUSHOLINO/BUSHFASCIST REGIME!

9. Apparently the CPA was exempt from most US laws regarding its hiring
I can only hope that congress can find something to charge him with - a democratic-controlled congress.

Santa needs to bring us subpoena power for christmas.

10. What amazes me is how shocking this report is! What if one of our kids
got a cushy Repug job in Iraq in charge of MILLIONS of dollars setting up an Iraqi STOCK MARKET!

How many suitcases of CASH did these REPUG HERITAGE FOUNDATION KIDS bring home to themselves and Mommy and Poppy?

A REAL BOONDOGGLE...and if it had been Clinton or Carter...what would have been said?

11. Ah, the cognitive dissonance is off the scale
I hope we can hold them accountable. If we don't they'll only be emboldened to go for more next time. Republicans in prison! It's all I'm asking for, and I don't think it's unreasonable. The more the merrier.

17. No wonder she's such a rabid defender of the GOP
she and her hubby are getting mega-rich working for them. Anyone want to bet old Kate will still be in top demand as a talking head? Her credibility as a pundit won't be affected, same as with Novak.

19. Disgusting - She had the nerve to show her face on Chris Matthews today
Some people have no shame. It seems pretty obvious to me that Bushler has sent her out to soften people up to the idea of invading Irag.

All I could think of is, Well Kate, if its such a good idea to go in then Im sure your kid will be one of the first, right?
