1. I just watched the whole thing!!
He's still signing autographs, and greeting the people!! He just MAKES ME SMILE !! I found myself mesmerized, and grinning through the whole speech!! Someone needs to grab him up for VP in '08. The one who does, is going to be the wisest candidate, because this ticket WILL WIN !!! I hope this will be re-broadcast for those who were unfortunate to miss it!!:) :) :) :) :) :hi: DC

5. You are right!

Obama speaks with such ease and every word that he says is meaningful.

Brilliant public speaker.

The way he looks and walks makes you comfortable.

6. He needs to stop dissing Democrats, though.
I used to be a big Obama fan, but he needs to be more of a firebreather for our side. He's too willing to criticize Democrats. He needs to channel that into dissing the Repukian enemy.

12. I was actually referring to his book. I should have posted this link:

I guess my comment was out of bounds because I didn't see the C-Span thing. But this episode was on my mind this week.

13. Here is more on the subject:

http://www.mydd.com/story/2006/6/30/19584/2431

* snip *

"When one reviews Obama's comments, though, such as MyDD did back in March, one begins to see a consistent pattern of undermining the Democratic position on various issues, whether it be his ignorance on Feingold's censure motion or on discussing the use of filibusters. In the end, this is what harms our party the most - by publicly undercutting the party in the frames that the GOP has established, it is setting back progress that we have made. Obama's proclivities for being a public voice of dissent within the Democratic Party on various issues holds a lot of water given his stature, and it does nothing to improve our standing - except his own, perhaps.

While he's nowhere near the level that Joe Lieberman is when it comes to cutting our legs out from beneath us, one must remember that Joe only became a vocal critic of Democratic positions in fairly recent times. Their voting records may differ, but the fact is that they both affirm the 'problems' that others believe our party has when they speak. If Obama wants to keep the respect of the movement that helped push him on the path towards stardom, he might do well to remember to speak out in support of progressive Democratic positions instead of repeating tired old talking points denigrating the Democratic party."

* * *

I've rarely seen anyone speak more powerfully than Obama at the 2004 convention. I just wish THAT Obama would be the consistent Obama and that he would stop playing into Republican talking points on occasion.

15. I follow politics and the two examples in that snip -- I have no idea
what they're referencing.

Could it be that they're exaggerations?

14. Since no branch of government is run by the Democrats, the crticism
is probably warranted.

7. What did he talk about?
The only article on the speech just says "Obama Says Democrats Need Tough Security Stance" and is making people in LBN angry.

8. I don't recall him even saying that at all!
Do you get C SPAN 1 ? It is going to be re-broadcast many times tonight! There is another post on the Greatest threads that speaks more to what "actually" happened, and what he said. There was ABSOLUTLY no dissing of Dems!!!

11. For good reason
This is an election year. If he can't support the party, he should just shut up. Any elected Dem leader who goes on a media blitz critizing Dems less than 2 months before the midterm elections should have his ass kicked and his money taken away.

9. He was good.......
I enjoyed the speech....although he didn't get me as fired up as I would have wanted. Guess he's taking the high road for now.

He is a real cutie and a wonderful "off-the-cuff" speaker though....that's for sure!
