DNC raised far more than the DSCC or the DCCC. Don't let them spin us.
It is amazing how they spin it that Howard Dean is a poor fundraiser. This is a record for the DNC in a non-presidential year.

Democratic National Cmte $95,543,172
Republican National Cmte $176,283,310

House Party Committees

Democratic Congressional Campaign Cmte $80,806,205
National Republican Congressional Cmte $115,468,183

Senate Party Committees

Democratic Senatorial Campaign Cmte $77,193,131
National Republican Senatorial Cmte $65,934,939

Totals based on data released by the FEC on Friday, September 15, 2006.

True, the DNC does not have as much money banked. But it is most definitely not a fundraising problem. Don't let them say that.

http://www.opensecrets.org/parties/index.asp

If they want to gripe about where he is spending the money, fine with me. I would like to gripe about the choices the DCCC and DSCC have made in candidates to whom they give money. But don't let them tell you he is a poor fundraiser.

3. They have always had more money than Democrats.
And I would rather they keep on having that advantage if all we can do is turn to donors who don't have the people's interest at heart.

Once we have our ground game set up, we can win without so much expense. It will take time but it is starting.

12. People give money to the RNC to make money off laws that they hope
Edited on Sun Sep-17-06 08:07 PM by w4rma
the corporatists pass. Then they give some of the money they made to pass more laws to make more money to pass more laws, etc. (i.e. give away public land to clear cut the forests on it. give away leeses for free on public land to drill for oil on it. get money to build crap in Iraq but never build the crap.)

However, there aren't many folks who will becoming ultra-wealthy by promoting Democratic policies, although many many people will be able to move up from the lower class to the middle class and better.

We have an election to win in 2 months. Democratic party Civil War is fine in the primaries but going into the election we need to worry about winning, this pissing match must stop, I don't care who started it, we must all put it aside for the next two months.

10. You worry about the Civil War, I worry about winning in November. . .
I'm not at all surprised that rather than focusing on victory in November you are more concerned with fighting other Democrats. I'm backing all Democrats who are representing our party in November regardless of if they had the backing of the DLC, DCCC, DSCC, PDA, DFA, progressives, moderates, et al.

A vigorous fight in the primary is valued but now its about victory not infighting. You can keep this up if you want, but it says a lot about you and your character.

. . .as long as Howard does not get the respect you feel he deserves. Its the same tired line you have been running since 2004. I can't wait to see you demand that Dean/PDA/DFA get all the credit should Duckworth win in the Illinois 6th. Now is the time for us to put the petty battles from the primary behind us. Howard Dean is the chairman of the DNC, Rahm the head of the DCCC and Schumer the head of the DSCC, all three are my leaders as I look to November.

The others don't have to worry about state level elections or building the party.

"The Democratic National Committee
The Democratic National Committee plans the Party's quadrennial presidential nominating convention; promotes the election of Party candidates with both technical and financial support; and works with national, state, and local party organizations, elected officials, candidates, and constituencies to respond to the needs and views of the Democratic electorate and the nation."

by the types of candidates they are promoting.

On first glance you might be tempted to say "hell it's all going to the same effort so why worry?" But on closer inspection you can see that its almost like three different Democratic Parties being pushed to the finish line.

Will we EVER be able to unify - however briefly, and however necessarily - to unseat these clowns in the GOP?

which is probably what's behind many of the posts here. Don't worry, they are history and they know it. I only wish we coordinated all this verve into one, singular and powerful pipeline.

At times, Democratic efforts remind me of the scene in Monty Pythons "Life of Brian", where all the various groups trying to free Judea from the Romans are gathered at a daytime gladiator event, and are hurling epithets at each other from the bleachers.

Amazed is okay, but don't desert. No one has the scoop on where things stand. People make me think a lot too. That is what separates us from the destroyers with only that focus. They want to destroy us. And sometimes humans go off at the mouth without thinking. Give people permission to do that. Strange that we are the only animal on the planet given the right to speech.

We have to assume we are all in this together. Never give up. Take the wounds over and lick them and get some healing attention. But come back to the battle. You are a strong warrior and I know I, for one, am much better off for having your input.
