WASHINGTON - The spotlight returns to Iraq and other problem areas of the Middle East as President Bush heads to the United Nations to address a host of global issues facing his administration.

The president’s three-day trip includes bilateral meetings with six foreign leaders, including the presidents of Iraq and the Palestinian Authority, and a speech to the U.N. General Assembly that will focus on his vision for the Middle East.

The days of diplomacy come as the president prepares for a busy political schedule. Bush, who lately has been trying to turn the election-year debate away from the unpopular war in Iraq and toward a broader war on terrorism, plans to spend much of the next seven weeks campaigning for fellow Republicans. And he isn’t leaving politics behind while he’s in New York: Monday night he headlines a fundraiser for the Republican National Committee at the Manhattan home of billionaire financier Henry Kravis.

At the United Nations, Bush will try to highlight his goal of spreading democracy. To that end, Bush was to spend his first day meeting with leaders of Malaysia, a democracy with a moderate Islamic government; El Salvador and Honduras, two Central American nations that have moved from military dictatorships to democracies; and the emerging African democracy of Tanzania.

for the rest of his life - his babysitters will have to proctor everything he does, everywhere he goes, every step he takes, to shepherd him around so he doesn't cross paths with the many many multitudes of people he's offended. I mean, who of any note or significance HASN'T he offended? He's an offensive person by nature, except to other blockheads who find nothing wrong with his boorish, brutish, loutish behavior. They can have him as far as I'm concerned.

SUCH bad blood he's generated - between himself and SO many others with whom his imperial piggishness still hasn't quite realized or accepted that he has to share this planet.

I still say that by the time he's out of office (sooner than later, one hopes), his movement will be restricted everywhere except a few "garden spots" in the Bye-bull belt where, somehow, inexplicably, they still love him. He'll have to have minders clearing the way for him, sorting through groups of people to make sure they're "sanitized for his protection." He won't be able to travel very much (not that he ever liked to - sure didn't do much before he "took" office and it's not as though he didn't have plenty of opportunities or couldn't afford to.). He'll be like Henry Kissinger, with a warrant out for his arrest in some countries that have deemed him a war criminal, if he ever sets foot on their soil. And around the US, he won't be able to visit some states because there will be protestors hounding him at every stop. And that's liable to go on for the rest of his miserable life. He'll eventually be a prisoner of his own devising. The magnitude of his fuckups is such that many people here and around the world won't forget the devastation and bloodshed and wreckage and chaos and misery he's caused. They won't be able to forget, because many of them are condemned to have to live with it - and in it - for the rest of THEIR lives. WHEREVER he goes, there will ALWAYS be faces glaring into his, thinking "Criminal!" "Asshole!" "Murderer!" "Jerk!" And those feelings will harden if he gets through this without being held accountable, and it's perceived that he got away with it.

...Jerry Brown for Attorney General...and he showed a photo of his opponent, smiling with Bush...and the caption "TOO CONSERVATIVE." "Bush love" is gonna come back to bite many, many Republican candidates square on the ass.

So yeah, by all means...get in the SUV and drive to that fundraiser at the billionaire's mansion. Shake your little fist and stomp your little feet and talk about Islamofascists and the lessons you learned after 9/11 and how it's not acceptable for anyone to disagree with you. Sounds like a plan as we head into the midterms.
