Senate doable... only 3 states in toss-up category

The battle for control of the U.S. Senate is getting closer—much closer. Little more than a week ago, our Balance of Power summary showed the Republicans leading 50-45 with five states in the Toss-Up category. Today, Rasmussen Reports is changing three races from “Toss-Up” to “Leans Democrat.” As a result, Rasmussen Reports now rates 49 seats as Republican or Leans Republican while 48 seats are rated as Democrat or Leans Democrat (see State-by-State Summary:

There are now just three states in the Toss-Up category--Tennessee, New Jersey, and Missouri.

1. Connecticut

I disagree with Rasmussen's statement:

Connecticut Senator Joe Lieberman (D) is now running for re-election as a Independent after losing a Primary Campaign to Ned Lamont (D). However, this race has no impact on the Senate Balance of Power considerations since whichever candidate wins will line up as a Democrat when the Senate convenes next January.

2. we have to win two of those three?

what are the chances? I'm surprised to see a tight race in NJ, you'd think the dem would walk away with it.

On the other hand, I'm surprised to see a tight race in MO. The land of religious looneys (sorry Kansas, I ordinarly reserve that for you, but I'm in a mood this morning and thinking of Ashcroft and his many attempts to get rid of Roe v Wade while he was Gov of MO.)

I've seen some news about TN so I sort of know what's going on there.

I hate to be skeptical, but when was the last time we won a close one?

3. Connecticut might better be in the 'leans insane' category

Not to diss the voters there ... but in reference to the insane man who is the self-selected third party candidate. I have NO confidence he'll caucus with the Dems. We need to win all the states we can and then subtract one to account for the squirrel who's loyalties are currently unknown.
